At the moment, there are three camps of a closed type existing in Bulgaria. The buildings, which are administered from the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), provide 1,040 places: The Detention Center in Busmantsi has 400, the Detention Center in Lyubimets (since recently) 400 and the Detention Center in Elhovo has 240 places. In these accommodation facilities unaccompanied minors are being held illegally, which was reported by the Ombudsman some days ago. A recent statement, done by the Center for Legal Aid – Voice in Bulgaria (CLA), confirmed the report.

[CLA] met a number of detained unaccompanied minors, whom the centre’s administration had listed as accompanied by a seemingly randomly chosen person who happened to be a part of the same group traveling together and smuggled into the country. […]

Austria is ready to support Bulgaria’sefforts to improve border security in view of potential increase in migration pressure, including by secondment of police officers, a senior Austrian official has said.

The assurance of support has come from Austria’s Director General for Public Security, Konrad Kogler, at a meeting with the Chief Secretary of Bulgaria’s Ministry of the Interior, Georgi Kostov, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

At a meeting in Vienna, Kostov and Kogler discussed measures taken by both countries to address the adverse effects of the migration inflow into Europe.

The residents of the southwestern border village of Kulata claim that the first illegal migrants have already crossed from Greece into Bulgaria.

Over the weekend, children from the village noticed six-seven men carrying their luggage in bags who were walking on the international railway line.

The children told their parents that the people had spoken in a foreign language, with the foreigners making signs to the children to keep silence.

Die Polizei verstärkt ihre Einsatzkräfte im griechischen Elendslager Idomeni. Flüchtlinge demonstrieren – und fürchten eine gewaltsame Räumung des Camps.

Die Lage im griechischen Elendslager Idomeni an der Grenze zu Mazedonien ist angespannt. Gerüchte überschlagen sich: Werden Flüchtlinge einen Grenzdurchbruch versuchen? Wird die Polizei das Camp in Kürze gewaltsam räumen? Oder doch die Grenze geöffnet? Rund 1500 Flüchtlinge demonstrieren am Sonntag auf den Bahngleisen, die Polizei verstärkt ihre Einsatzkräfte und riegelt die Zufahrtsstraßen ab.

Die Migranten versammelten sich am Sonntag um die Mittagszeit vor dem mazedonischen Zaun und forderten lautstark die Öffnung der Grenze für Flüchtlinge. „Wir haben gehört, die Grenze geht heute auf“, sagte ein aus Syrien stammender Flüchtling im griechischen Rundfunk. Viele Menschen hielten weiße Tücher in der Hand, um zu symbolisieren, dass sie friedlich unterwegs sind, wie das Staatsfernsehen ERT berichtete.

Arrestation de 32 candidats à l’émigration clandestine

Les agents de la garde nationale du district de Monsatir ont pu faire avorter une opération d’émigration clandestine à partir des cotes de Teboulba, en réussissant à repérer et arrêter 32 individus qui se cachaient dans un entrepôt de la région de Zaremdine, en attendant l’heure de l’appareillage.

Les 32 personnes originaires du grand Tunis ainsi que de Kairouan et Jendouba, ont été arrêtées, alors que le propriétaire du dépôt, et présumé organisateur de l’opération a réussi à s’enfuir.

Sono complessivamente 730 i migranti tratti in salvo nella giornata di oggi, nel Canale di Sicilia, nel corso di 6 distinte operazioni di soccorso coordinate dalla Centrale Operativa della Guardia Costiera di Roma del Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti.

In particolare, Nave Diciotti CP941 della Guardia Costiera ha soccorso 5 gommoni, portando in salvo 627 migranti (528 uomini, 95 donne e 4 bambini), con l’intervento di Nave Aliseo della Marina Militare italiana, inserita nel dispositivo Mare Sicuro.

Tens of drowned bodies found off Libyan shores

Libyan Coast Guard found Friday tens of drowned bodies of migrants, who are likely to be from Eritrea and Niger, off Al-Garaboulli shores, 75 km eastern Tripoli.

The Head of Coast Guard in Al-Garaboulli, Abdullatif Al-Munser, said the decomposed bodies that came ashore Al-Garaboulli suggest that the boat, which those migrants were on, drowned days ago.

Libya coastguard stops 600 migrants crossing to Europe

Tripoli (AFP) – The Libyan coastguard on Sunday stopped three boats carrying 600 migrants including pregnant women trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe, an official said.

The coastguard „intercepted three large dinghies off the coast of Sabratha“ around 70 kilometres (45 miles) west of Tripoli, Colonel Ayoub Qassem, a spokesman for the Tripoli government’s navy, said.

He said all the migrants were from Africa, adding „there were 80 women including some who were pregnant.“

Those activists who’ve done it last week will leave on Tuesday. Their work has been super essential and must be maintained, since there’s still little to no press and the police act badly towards refugees, who are detained and get zero information from the officials and cannot apply for asylum.

Your task will not be to provide food or goods, but to stay around the camp, talk to people, exchange information, and to forward your information to the public by collecting information from those who are detained and then be in touch with activists and press.

Een week geleden sloten Europa en Turkije een akkoord om de vluchtelingenstroom in te dammen. De vluchtelingen die voor gesloten grenzen staan in Griekenland gaan nu op zoek naar alternatieve routes, om alsnog Noord- en West-Europa te bereiken. Bijvoorbeeld via Albanië.

Verslaggever Lex Runderkamp is het grensgebied bij het plaatsje Konitsa. Vluchtelingen proberen daar te voet de grens over te steken. Vaak proberen ze het zonder hulp van smokkelaars. Want, zegt de Syriër Mohammed, „we vertrouwen liever op onszelf dan op een smokkelaar.“ Langs de Albanese grens is inmiddels een klein tentenkamp ontstaan waar vluchtelingen die van de Griekse eilanden komen zich voorbereiden op een doorreis.
