Jean Ziegler* sieht Europa mitverantwortlich für den Tod von Bootsflüchtlingen. Und er fordert, Hunger müsse zum Asylgrund werden.
Herr Ziegler, was ging Ihnen durch den Kopf, als Sie vom Flüchtlingsdrama vor Lampedusa erfuhren?
Jean Ziegler: Ich habe mich geschämt, ein Europäer zu sein. Wir werfen Menschen ins Meer zurück, die nicht das Glück haben, in Europa geboren zu werden. Wir machen diese Politik nun 20 Jahre lang aus Angst vor den homophoben und xenophoben Bewegungen, die in fast allen Ländern Zulauf haben. Jetzt muss die Zivilgesellschaft aufstehen und erreichen, dass die Frontex abgeschafft wird.
Was soll denn so schlecht sein an der Grenzschutztruppe der EU?
Mit gegen 200 Millionen Euro Steuergeldern tut die Frontex nichts anderes, als Europa von Menschen abzuschotten, die vom Tod bedroht sind. Mit Radargeräten und Nachtflughelikoptern macht die Frontex Jagd auf die Schwächsten der Schwachen. Frontex ist der militärische Arm der EU-Flüchtlingspolitik. Frontex soll durch eine Hilfsorganisation ersetzt werden.

An der Abschottung Europas halten die führenden EU-Politiker auch nach dem neuen dramatischen Flüchtlingssterben vor Lampedusa fest. Die EU-Innenkommissarin Cecilia Malmström, desgleichen auch der deutsche Innenminister Hans-Peter Friedrich vermeinen, das Problem liege wesentlich bei Schlepperbanden. Sie sollten sich von Jean Ziegler in der Zeitung „Schweiz am Sonntag“ belehren lassen. Der frühere UN-Sondergesandte für das Recht auf Nahrung verlangt die Abschaffung der Grenzkontrollagentur Frontex und ein erneuertes EU-Asylsystem, bei dem auch Hunger als Fluchtgrund anerkannt wird.

As the country’s 22 refugee centres overflow, the zoo is being used to handle those picked up on the streets
There are so many African migrants in Libya wanting to make the dangerous trip to Europe that Tripoli zoo has been turned into a processing centre for them.
With the country’s 22 refugee centres overflowing, the zoo – closed since the 2011 uprising – is being used to handle those picked up on the streets. More than 50 people are brought there every day.

Since the call was published developments the situation is escalating.
Since two days a special unit of the Hamburg police by command of the government and the Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz (social democratic party SPD)* are excercising racial profiling in various areas of the City. They are trageting blacks and arresting Lampedusa refugees. Yesterday there were 11 and today 10 activists of the Group „Lampedusa in Hamburg“ were kept in police custody for nearly the whole day. The lawyer team of the group was repeatedly constrained to get contact to their clients.

Unter Regie und Kontrolle der italienischen Küstenwache hat ein libyscher Öltanker 174 syrische Flüchtlinge in internationalen Gewässern aufgebracht und nach Libyen verschleppt. Es gibt keine Angaben darüber, ob diese syrischen Flüchtlinge jemals zuvor in Libyen waren. In Libyen sollen sie der „Migrationsbehörde“ übergeben werden. Die von der EU finanzierten Abschiebegefängnisse und Lager in Libyen sind berüchtigt wegen Folter, Misshandlungen und willkürlicher Haftdauer.
Libyan vessel picks up Syrian migrants in international waters

A Libyan oil tanker today rescued 174 Syrian migrants in international waters off the Italian coast.Libyan naval spokesman Colonel Ayoub Omar Qassem confirmed tonight to the Libya Herald that the operation had been conducted in cooperation with the Italian coastguard.All the migrants were taken aboard the unnamed tanker, which is understood to be used to take crude from Libya’s offshore Bouri oilfield to Italy. The vessel will be returning the Syrians to Libya, where they will be handed over to the immigration authorities.

Überlebende des am Freitag zwischen Malta und Lampedusa gekenterten Flüchtlingsschiffes berichten, daß sie gezielt von einem Boot der libyschen Marine beschossen wurden. Dabei habe es zwei Tote gegeben. Ihre Aussagen wurden am Sonntag auf der Internetseite der Zeitung Malta Today und in italienischen Medien wiedergegeben.
