Per quello che è successo a Lampedusa non ci sono aggettivi. Ma le cose che si sentono in queste ore fanno venire la nausea. Non parlo della Lega, che come sempre merita solo silenzio. Parlo di quell’onda di untuosità, ipocrisia e smemoratezza che ci sta sommergendo. Come se l’Italia, l’Europa e l’Occidente volessero passare una mano di calce su una realtà di cui sono responsabili, ma che non ammetterebbero mai, perché in tal caso non potrebbero che auto-accusarsi.

AEDH opposes the EU’s readmission agreements

Brussels, 7th October 2013

Readmission agreements signed between the European Union and some third countries are becoming a key instrument in return policies, and rely on the outsourcing of migration control. They are bargaining chips in association and cooperation policies with these third countries.

On 9 October, the European Parliament will be called on to give its support to a draft agreement with Armenia. AEDH reiterates its strong opposition to the development of the EU’s readmission policy, even if this policy incorporates small concessions in terms of visa facilitation for the third countries concerned.

When will the European Union recognise its responsibility in the tragedy of Lampedusa?

We, European citizens gathered within AEDH, we do not want to be ashamed any longer of the member states of the European Union!

Brussels, 7th October 2013

Sheltered by the careful border surveillance of FRONTEX, behind the Greek-Turkish wall, protected by the fences of Ceuta and Melilla, Europeans feel sorry for the fate of hundreds of Africans who died off the coast of Lampedusa.

Once again, they deplore the fact that children, women and men, driven by fear, war or misery, believed in the possibility of reaching a better world for them. As if this horrible event was the first! As if we did not know that in the last two decades the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic have become the graveyard of thousands of migrants!

Lampedusa: murderous Europe

The new shipwreck of a boat coming from Libya in which at least 300 out of the 500 passengers perished or disappeared very near to the island of Lampedusa, was not caused by fate.

In 2010, in the same place, two simultaneous shipwrecks resulted in close to 400 victims. In 2009, 200 people drowned in the high seas off the Sicilian coast. Only during the first six months of 2011, UNHCR estimated that 1,500 boat people had come to their deaths while they tried to reach the coasts of the island of Malta or Italy. Since the mid-1990s, the war undertaken by Europe against migrants has killed at least 20,000 people in the Mediterranean.

Métlili vient de rejoindre la liste des régions «sudistes» où des émeutes ont éclaté pour dénoncer les délestages et les coupures de courant intempestives de Sonelgaz. Dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche, des habitants de Métlili, au sud de Ghardaïa, ont incendié le siège de l’agence commerciale de Sonelgaz ainsi qu’un de ses véhicules, a constaté sur place l’APS. Le motif : dénoncer le retard accusé dans le rétablissement du courant électrique tel que prévu dans l’agenda de la société nationale de l’électricité et du gaz.

„[…] E’ accaduto un anno e mezzo fa quando, il 3 aprile 2012 il ministro Cancellieri ha firmato a Tripoli un accordo bilaterale con il consiglio di transizione libico che autorizzava le autorità italiane ad intercettare i richiedenti asilo e a riconsegnarli ai soldati libici. Dell’accordo non si sa niente per tre mesi. A giugno Amnesty International solleva il caso rivelando la mancanza di impegni sul fronte dei rifugiati. “Non sono neppure citati nell’accordo”, denunciava l’allora portavoce dell’alto commissariato Onu Laura Boldrini. Nel giro di poche ora il ministro Terzi è costretto a fornire rassicurazioni senza però negare la circostanza o assumere impegni vincolanti. Del resto il tema era scottante per l’Italia.
