Menschenwürdiger Wohnraum statt Unterbringung in Lagerhalle

Heute morgen haben Aktivist*innen in Göttingen das leerstehende Student*innenwohnheim des Goethe-Instituts in der Fridtjof-Nansen-Straße 1 besetzt.

Während die Göttinger Stadtverwaltung weiterhin behauptet, es mangele in Göttingen an Wohnraum für Geflüchtete und andere Wohnungssuchende, zeigt der Fall des Goethe-Instituts nachdrücklich, dass freier Wohnraum sehr wohl vorhanden und für die Stadt sofort verfügbar ist.

Der Gebäudekomplex, der zum Teil bis Ende Mai 2018 noch vom Goethe-Institut genutzt wird, befindet sich im Besitz der Stadt. Seit dem bereits erfolgten Teilumzug des Goethe-Instituts in das neu errichtete Haus in der Innenstadt steht das Wohnheim in der Fridtjof-Nansen-Straße leer. Das Gebäude verfügt über sieben abgeschlossene, voll ausgestattete Wohneinheiten mit Bad und Küche sowie 30 Einzel- und Doppelzimmer mit gemeinschaftlichen Sanitäranlagen.

39 Boat-people sind vom marokkanischen Nador nach Spanien gestartet, doch auf dem Meer fiel der Motor aus. Die spanische Seenotrettung suchte vergeblich nach ihnen. Nach drei Tagen wurde das Boot an die Küste des westalgerischen Oran getrieben. An Bord waren neben 19 Überlebenden 15 Tote, die verdurstet oder an Unterkühlung gestorben sind. 5 Weitere werden vermisst.

Alors que 19 autres ont été sauvés: 15 migrants subsahariens morts au large d’Oran

Quinze migrants subsahariens ont été découverts morts à bord d’une embarcation pneumatique, dans la matinée d’hier, par la Protection civile au large du village de Cap Falcon. Dix-neuf (19) autres, souffrant pour la plupart d’hypothermie, ont été évacués vers le service des urgences de l’hôpital Dr Tami Medjbeur d’Aïn El-Turck. Selon des informations sécuritaires recueilles sur les lieux, il s’agit de migrants originaires du Mali, âgés entre 19 et 22 ans, qui se sont entassés dans un zodiac doté d’un moteur Yamaha de 15 chevaux et ce, pour prendre la mer, trois jours auparavant, à partir d’une plage de la province du Nador au Maroc.

Over a thousand people have crossed the Evros river, marking the land border between Turkey and Greece, since March this year. Last week over one hundred people arrived each day and 340 people arrived on Tuesday alone. This has led to concerns from authorities and NGOs that an emergency situation is unfolding.

Many of the people crossing the border have ended up sleeping in the parks and squares of the city of Thessaloniki, waiting for a place in a camp. There are also reports of hundreds of people waiting outside police stations, to get arrested in order to gain temporary residence. The municipality has expressed concerns that the city may experience similar circumstance as the events of 2015, where thousands of people slept on the streets across Greece. Local and national migration authorities have scheduled a meeting for Saturday to discuss the situation. The Migration Policy Minister Dimitris Vitsas expressed his concerns about the increase of arrivals and announced his ministry has developed two plans to deal with the situation, which he will share privately with party leaders.

Tribune. Face à la menace terroriste dans le Sahel, la France prend ses dispositions à l’intention de ses ressortissants établis dans la région ou projetant de s’y rendre. Au titre des « conseils aux voyageurs », le ministère des Affaires étrangères produit une carte des zones à risque mise à jour au rythme des attentats. La dernière en date a été publiée fin mars, immédiatement après l’attaque perpétrée à Ouagadougou.

Laut Redaktion von „Mondeafrique“ führt der französisch-internationale Kriegseinsatz im Sahel, gestützt auf Technologie und Luftangriffe, zu einer schnellen Ausweitung des Dschihadismus und des Widerstands in der armen Bevölkerung auf dem Lande und an den Stadträndern. Möglicherweise entwickele sich eine „maoistische“ Einkreisung der Städte durch das Land, und eine „Kriegergesellschaft“ sei im Entstehen.

Sur les faits, l’attaque est d’une forme et d’une ampleur inattendues, qui n’est pas sans rappeler d’autres théâtres de conflits, tels l’Afghanistan ou le Moyen Orient. L’objectif, selon les mots même du communiqué français est de « prendre le contrôle du camp », dans cette ville qui a été un des fiefs de la rébellion indépendantiste (MNLA) et djihadiste en 2012. Les dizaines d’assaillants n’ont pas hésité à revêtir des uniformes des soldats des Nations unies, et à maquiller des véhicules aux couleurs onusiennes et maliennes. La force Barkhane(qui a succédé à Serval depuis août 2014) a dû mobiliser l’aviation pour réduire l’attaque.

El aumento del número de refugiados y migrantes llegados a Europa en 2015 y 2016 provocó una crisis política en toda la Unión Europea (UE) en relación con la gestión de la migración. La UE respondió a la crisis con la adopción de la Agenda Europea de Migración, una agenda global que fomentaba una respuesta integral para la gestión de todos los aspectos relacionados con la migración.

Lanzado en noviembre de 2015 en La Valeta y presentado como una herramienta innovadora para permitir una respuesta más flexible a los retos de la migración irregular, el Fondo Fiduciario de Emergencia de la UE (EUTF, por sus siglas en inglés) es el principal instrumento financiero para el compromiso político de la UE con los socios africanos en el campo de la migración. El EUTF utiliza principalmente Ayuda Oficial al Desarrollo, (90%), la mayoría proveniente del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo (FED), y como tal, su implementación debe guiarse por los principios clave de la eficacia del desarrollo.

Mardi 24 avril, le tribunal de Gap a prononcé la détention provisoire de deux Suisses et d’une Italienne. Ils ont participé dimanche à la manifestation en réponse à l’action anti-migrants d’un groupe d’extrême droite. Ils sont poursuivis pour « aide à l’entrée d’étrangers en situation irrégulière et en bande organisée ». Le groupe d’extrême droite n’a pas été, quant à lui, inquiété.

C’est la première fois qu’en France, des « délinquants solidaires », comme disent les associations d’aide aux migrants, vont en prison. Ce mardi 24 avril, le tribunal correctionnel de Gap (Hautes-Alpes) a placé Bastien et Théo, deux Suisses, et Elenora, une Italienne, en détention provisoire, à la suite de leur participation à une manifestation pro-migrants à la frontière franco-italienne.

Einer aktuellen Studie zufolge sind deutsche Firmen mitverantwortlich für schlechte Bezahlung und lebensgefährliche Arbeit im südafrikanischen Bergbau. Bei Missständen würde ein Auge zugedrückt.

Deutsche Unternehmen sind nach einer Studie von „Brot für die Welt“ mitverantwortlich für soziale Missstände im südafrikanischen Bergbau. Ein Großteil der Arbeiter im Platin-Abbau lebe in Slums und werde für die oft lebensgefährliche Arbeit nicht angemessen bezahlt, heißt es in der Untersuchung. Südafrika liefert einen Großteil des weltweiten Bedarfs an Platin, das vor allem in Autokatalysatoren verwendet wird. In der Studie werden die Unternehmen BMW, Daimler und VW genannt.

Shocked by the humanitarian crisis she saw unfolding in Greece, Ayesha Keller got on a plane to see if she could help save lives

Ayesha Keller was horrified by the treatment of refugees in Europe and wanted to try to make a difference. She left her job and headed for the Greek island of Lesbos, where she found the beaches strewn with discarded lifejackets, and the formal refugee settlement overflowing. Thousands of people unable to get into the camp were huddled in freezing fields, with no facilities, food or shelter. Keller banded together with other volunteers who had gone to Greece in response to the tragedy. During her year-long stay, she helped crowdfund, establish and run a transit camp in a local farmer’s olive groves.

Die Bundeswehr wird auch weiterhin in Mali zur Stabilisierung des Landes beitragen – und sogar mit noch mehr Soldaten vor Ort sein. Auch andere Einsätze verlängert der Bundestag.

Der Bundestag hat drei Afrika-Einsätze der Bundeswehr verlängert. Unter anderem beschloss das Parlament am Donnerstag, dass die deutschen Soldaten ein weiteres Jahr im westafrikanischen Mali bleiben. Dort wird der größte und gefährlichsten Auslandseinsatz der Bundeswehr noch einmal ausgeweitet: Statt maximal 1000 können sich künftig bis zu 1100 Soldaten an der UN-Mission „Minusma“ zur Stabilisierung des Landes beteiligen. Verlängert wurde auch das Mandat für die EUTM-Mission zur Ausbildung malischer Soldaten. Darüber hinaus bleibt die Bundeswehr auch bei der Bekämpfung der Piraterie vor Somalias Küste im Einsatz.
