Zarzis – Tunisia’s coastguard and navy on Monday rescued 174 migrants from two boats which broke down as they headed from Libya to Italy, the Red Crescent and an AFP correspondent said.

Nove cadaveri sono stati recuperati dalla Guardia Costiera italiana a circa 80 miglia dalle coste della Libia, nell’area dove si è capovolto un barcone carico di migranti diretto verso l’Italia. Sono state salvate 144 persone. Immigrazione: barcone capovolto, recuperati 9 cadaveri. Nell’area sono tuttora in corso ricerche di eventuali dispersi, alle quali partecipa anche un aereo Atr 42 della Guardia Costiera. I superstiti sono stati trasferiti a bordo di una nave della Marina Militare impegnata nell’operazione Triton, che sta facendo rotta ora verso la Sicilia. A bordo della nave vi è anche uno dei nove cadaveri, mentre gli altri sono a bordo di una motovedetta della Guardia Costiera, tuttora impegnata nelle ricerche dei dispersi.
Italian authorities requested assistance from Malta after the woman started complaining of stomach pains and was vomiting.
The woman was brought to Malta on an Italian Military Mission helicopter which landed on the helicopter pad of St Luke’s Hospital, where an ambulance was waiting – the helipad at Mater Die hospital is currently non-operational because of nearby building works.

Throughout Sunday the 12th of April, the Alarm Phone shift team obtained the satellite numbers of several vessels in distress in Libyan waters or was contacted directly by people in distress. Vessel 1 had about 500 people on board, vessel 2 again about 500 people, vessel 3 about 350 people, vessel 4-5 carrying together up to 900 people, vessel 6 with a yet unknown number of people, vessel 7 with approximately 90 people, vessel 8 had an unknown number of people on board. There were, it seems, (pregnant) women and children on most of the vessels.

In den Medien wird weniger darüber berichtet, dass die Ukraine ein wichtiger Zugang für Flüchtlinge ist, die vor Islamisten aus Westafrika nach Europa flüchten, als über Flüchtlinge, die Europa über das Mittelmeer erreichen. Die Aufnahmebedingungen sind jedoch empörend, wie Asylbewerber erzählen.

Hasan Hirsi ist 21 Jahre alt. Mit 15 hat er Somalia verlassen, nachdem die Al-Shabab-Terroristen sein Dorf angegriffen und seinen Vater getötet hatten. Er ist nach Moskau geflogen und fuhr von dort mit Schleusern nach Kiew. Um von der Ukraine in die Europäische Union einzureisen, brauchte Hirsi fünf Jahre – und fünf Versuche. Er wurde jedes Mal von ukrainischen, ungarischen und slowakischen Grenzsoldaten festgehalten und er hat beinahe drei Jahre in Abschiebelagern und in ukrainischen Gefängnissen verbracht. Er gibt an, dort von Sicherheitskräften beraubt, geschlagen und gefoltert worden zu sein. Heute noch, berichtet er dem Spiegel, bezeichnet er die Ukraine als „Hölle“ noch immer habe er Albträume davon.
Während sich die Aufmerksamkeit der Medien und der Politik auf die Einreiserouten konzentriert, die über das Mittelmeer führen, stellt Maximilian Popp in einer ausführlichen Untersuchung, die auf der Website des deutschen Magazins auf Englisch veröffentlicht wurde fest, dass „das bislang gezeigte Interesse an der östlichen Route und am Schicksal von Migranten wie Hasan Hirsi begrenzt war.“
Die größte Rettungsaktion zu Zeiten der Festung Europa findet derzeit vor der Küste Libyens statt. Das gesamte Wochenende und auch in der Nacht zu Montag werden fortlaufend immer mehr Rettungsschiffe, Kriegsschiffe, Frachtschiffe und Hubschrauber unter Koordination der italienischen SOS-Zentrale zur Rettung von wahrscheinlich mehr als einem Dutzend Flüchtlingsbooten eingesetzt. Über Satellitentelefone und Internet-Tracking lässt sich die riesige Rettungsaktion seit drei Tagen verfolgen. Das Alarm Phone von WatchTheMed und viele andere Kontaktgruppen und -personen sind durch Bootsflüchtlinge und Angehörige eingeschaltet, ein ausführlicher Bericht folgt.
Noch nie hat es in den Massenmedien einen solchen Informations-Blackout zu Rettungsaktionen gegeben.
