LAGOS, Nigeria — At least 46 “severely injured” people remain in a refugee camp that Nigeria’s military says it mistakenly bombed and they need urgent evacuation, the International Committee for the Red Cross said Wednesday.

“Patients are attended to in an open-air space in a precarious environment,” the aid group’s statement said, raising the possibility that the death toll could significantly rise.

A government official has told The Associated Press that more than 100 refugees and aid workers were killed in Tuesday’s bombing in a remote northeast region near the border with Cameroon.

At least 219 migrants and refugees are believed to have drowned in the Mediterranean already this year, more than double than during the same period a year ago, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Tuesday.

Following interviews with four survivors of a weekend shipwreck, the agency said nearly 180 people were feared to have been aboard a boat that capsized off the coast of Libya, not 110 as earlier thought.

Einen der Skandale hat Mouzalas tatsächlich nicht zu verantworten. Dass knapp vierzig Anhänger der Goldenen Morgenröte mit dem Parlamentsabgeordneten Giannis Lagos als Anführer eine Schule in Perama in der Gegend Neo Ikonio stürmten, dort das Lehrpersonal bedrohten und drangsalierten, hängt nur mittelbar mit dem Minister zusammen.

Es ist ein grauer eiskalter Wintermorgen in der serbischen Hauptstadt. In den Nächten zuvor ist die Temperatur auf minus zehn Grad gefallen. Das Gelände hinter dem Hauptbahnhof ist von Unrat bedeckt. Die einzige Mülltonne quillt seit Monaten über. Aus den leer stehenden Lagerhallen und Baracken, in denen früher der Zoll untergebracht war, kommen allmählich in graue Decken gehüllte Gestalten hervor.

On the 3rd of January, at 5.21am, the WatchTheMed Alarm Phone shift team received the first distress call of 2017, from a boat in the Ionian Sea (an embayment between Greece and Italy). This was the first time that we received a call from this part of the Mediterranean Sea. The 55 people on board undertook the dangerous journey to reach a safe place after having risked already the perilous sea passage from Turkey to Greece. Some of the passengers had joined the boat in Greece, escaping the appalling conditions of the Greek camps. When the travellers called us, they had already spent 30 hours at sea. We alarmed the Italian Coastguard, who eventually rescued the precarious passengers and brought them to Italy. We kept in touch with one of them – a boy, one of 12 children on board, who had travelled all the way from Turkey and who hoped to be reunited with his uncle in Germany. He told us that his uncle had undertaken the same journey as a young man, fleeing from violence in the 1990s. One week later, the boy informed us that he had reached Germany already. While this particular story seems to have found a happy end, it demonstrates how many people, including children, have to continue to risk their lives on dangerous sea journeys to reach EUrope, as safe corridors for them do not exist.

Pays d’émigration jusqu’au début des années 1990, la Grèce est devenue un pays d’immigration avec l’arrivée des migrants albanais après la chute du mur de Berlin. L’arsenal législatif mis en place alors, basé sur l’expulsion et le contrôle aux frontières, ne peut répondre au phénomène migratoire qui émerge dans les années 2000, à savoir une migration de transit. Répression et détention deviennent des modes de gestion des flux migratoires, sous couvert d’une situation d’urgence… qui dure.

Vingt-six ans après l’arrivée massive des Albanais en Grèce après la chute du mur de Berlin et la fin de la dictature d’Enver Hoxha, les migrations continuent, dans ce pays, à être gérées dans l’urgence. Si, depuis 2015, les arrivées de migrants à la frontière gréco-turque sont inédites par leur proportion, les mesures prises pour la « ?gestion ? » de cette situation par le gouvernement grec et l’Union européenne s’inscrivent dans une continuité historique de dissuasion et de répression de la migration. Pays d’émigration jusqu’au début des années 1990, la Grèce devient un pays d’immigration avec l’arrivée de migrants albanais. Cette migration qui apparaît massive et soudaine entraîne la mise en place d’instruments législatifs permettant de contrôler les entrées et le séjour des étrangers présents sur le territoire.

A la frontière italienne, des cheminots résistent à la «chasse aux migrants»

Le rétablissement des contrôles à la frontière italienne tue : cinq morts depuis août 2016, dont un sur la voie ferrée allant de Vintimille à Nice. Dans deux notes, la SNCF demande aux cheminots de la région Paca de signaler les « groupes » de migrants à bord des trains. Et de réacheminer en Italie les migrants arrêtés dans la journée. Plusieurs agents refusent cette « délation » et cette « chasse aux migrants ».

Le 23 décembre 2016, dans le secteur de Latte un peu après Vintimille (Italie), un train régional circulant vers Nice heurte un groupe de migrants cheminant vers la France sur la voie ferrée. Un jeune homme, sans papiers d’identité, est projeté sur le ballast et tué sur le coup. Ses compagnons s’enfuient avant l’arrivée des secours et de la police ferroviaire. Il est 20 h 38, l’accident a lieu au point kilométrique 255,4, tout près de la frontière franco-italienne. D’après La Reppublica, la victime est un Algérien d’environ 25 ans.
