Concentraciones en Madrid y Barcelona para recordar a los inmigrantes fallecidos en Ceuta
Varios cientos de personas, la mayoría de origen subsahariano, se han concentrado en la Puerta del Sol de Madrid y otro medio centenar en la plaza Sant Felip Neri de Barcelona para rendir homenaje a los inmigrantes ahogados cuando trataban el pasado jueves de alcanzar a nado la costa de Ceuta desde Marruecos.

El director general de la Guardia Civil, Arsenio Fernández de Mesa, reconoció ayer que sus agentes no pidieron la documentación a los inmigrantes que la semana pasada llegaron a pisar la playa de Ceuta y fueron devueltos en el momento a Marruecos. Y eso a pesar de que el acuerdo firmado en 2012 entre España y el país vecino obliga a elaborar una «solicitud de readmisión» en la que consten «todos los datos disponibles relativos a la identidad» de los extranjeros y a que Rabat expida, además, una especie de recibo.
Defence Minister threatens action after calls for military rule in Libya

Defence Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni said yesterday that the names of a number of officers who had discussed proposals for military rule had been passed on to the military prosecutor.
Speaking in a live television interview on Libya Al-Ahrar, Thinni said military intelligence had been alerted to a secret meeting in the former Qaddafi Hall of the People in Tripoli where military officials discussed the creation of a Egyptian-style military council to replace Congress and the government. The Military Police had been sent, he said, and although none of the individuals had been detained, their identities were known and they would be charged.

Turkish border: On January 19th, 2014 a boat with 26 refugees (23 Afghans and 3 Syrians) was spotted by the Greek Coast Guard near Farmakonisi. During the illegal push back that took place 8 children and 3 women drowned.
The 3 survivors of the „tragedy“ are speaking about their experience in a press conference, organized by the „Initiative Against the Detention Centers — Athens“ on January 25th in Syndagma Square in front of the Greek Parliament.
