Trente-sept candidats à l’émigration clandestine, tous Algériens, ont été interceptés, jeudi matin, dans deux opérations distinctes, au nord de Kristel (Gdyel) et au nord des Andalouses, par les éléments des Garde-côtes de l’unité d’Oran, a-t-on appris de ce corps de sécurité.

Dans une première opération, 17 clandestins ont été interceptés, jeudi matin, à bord d’un pneumatique, au nord de Kristel, par une patrouille des Garde-côtes.

La deuxième opération a permis l’interception, jeudi également, à 3h du matin, de 20 candidats à l’émigration, a-t-on indiqué de même source.

Les 2 groupes de ‘harraga‘ ayant pris, respectivement, le départ à partir des côtes de Kristel et Bouzedjar (Aïn Témouchent), ont été remis, après les formalités d’usage, à la gendarmerie nationale pour être présentés devant la justice, a-t-on ajouté.

Mehrere Staaten an den Außengrenzen der Europäischen Union haben in den vergangenen Jahren ihre Grenzkontrollen und ihre Flüchtlingspolitik verschärft. Diese Praxis steht zunehmend in der Kritik. Asylsuchende, die es nach Europa schaffen, werden vielerorts inhaftiert oder müssen lange in maroden Flüchtlingslagern leben. Der MEDIENDIENST hat die Situation in Italien, Griechenland, Ungarn, Bulgarien und Spanien zusammengefasst.

Für Flüchtlinge ist es zuletzt deutlich schwieriger geworden, nach Europa zu gelangen. Die östliche Mittelmeer-Route wird seit dem EU-Türkei-Deal vom März 2016 streng kontrolliert sowie mehrere Grenzen entlang der sogenannte Balkan-Route. Und die libysche Küstenwache riegelt die zentrale Mittelmeer-Route stärker ab. Das italienische Militär unterstützt dabei.

Für Flüchtlinge an den EU-Außengrenzen haben sich die Lebensbedingungen verschlechtert, so Menschenrechtsorganisationen. In der Kritik stehen unter anderem Ungarn, Bulgarien, Griechenland, Italien und Spanien kritisiert.

LONDON — The main route to Europe is experiencing one of its longest lulls since the migration crisis began in 2014.

Just over 4,000 migrants have reached Italy from Libya since mid-July, about a fifth of the number during each of the equivalent periods of 2014, 2015 and 2016, according to the Italian Interior Ministry.

The lull provides rare respite for Italy, where migration — and the center-left government’s response to it — may prove to be a defining factor in a general election in the coming months.

After the European Union reached a deal with Turkey early in 2016 to try to stop migrants reaching the Greek islands in the Mediterranean, Italy once again became the main gateway to Europe — an unwanted title that it has held for most of the 21st century.

Italy has reversed its policy on Mediterranean migration, endangering the lives of those fleeing violence and civil war.

Since 2014, around half a million people have entered Fortress Europe through Italy. Over the past three weeks, however, the Italian state has adopted strong measures to stop African and Asian migrants from arriving. Attempting to dam the great breach in Fortress Europe’s battlements, Italy has put the full range of its resources into action: the military, the judiciary, the interior ministry, the diplomatic service, the right-wing press, private mercenaries, organized fascists, the church, and the secret service are now working together to shore up the Italian coastline.

A year of propaganda, criminalization, and skulduggery cleared the way for this final push, which handed the Italian government’s right wing control of international and Libyan waters. This Mediterranean coup has pushed humanitarian organizations out and empowered the Libyan militia. We can already see the disastrous results: whereas over five thousand people arrived in the first week of August 2016, only one thousand people have made it to Italy so far this month. There have been no landings for over a week. Zero boats.
