Statement 26th of June 2016:

During the interception the migrants’ boat capsized. The survivors witnessed that the Marine Royal did not rescue all passengers, but only 5 of the 8. The Marine Royal then left the three dead bodies behind.

On Sunday the 26 of June 2016, the Alarmphone got a call from a Senegalese man staying in Morocco. His brother had left in a rubber boat with a group of 8 persons, heading from Tangier in direction of Tarifa. During the interception the migrants’ boat capsized, because of the big waves produced by the ship of the Marine Royal.

The survivors witnessed that the Marine Royal did not rescue all passengers, but only 5 of the 8. The Marine Royal then left the three dead bodies behind. In anguish the Senegalese comrades in Tangier wrote the following statement:

Bergungskräfte haben in den vergangenen vier Tagen mehr als 11.000 Flüchtlinge im Mittelmeer gerettet.

Allein heute wurden etwa 3.300 Menschen bei verschiedenen Einsätzen vor der Küste Libyens aufgegriffen, wie die italienische Küstenwache mitteilte. Die meisten Flüchtlinge seien mit Schlauchbooten unterwegs gewesen.

Seit die Balkanroute für Flüchtlinge geschlossen ist und seit dem EU-Türkei-Abkommen steigt die Zahl der Bootsflüchtlinge im Mittelmeer wieder an.

Vor dem EU-Gipfel haben sich mehr als 100 Organisationen gegen Pläne der Europäischen Union gewandt, mit afrikanischen Staaten Migrationsabkommen wie mit der Türkei zu schließen.

„Die EU, ein Projekt, das auf den Trümmern eines verheerenden Krieges entstand, schickt sich an, ein dunkles Kapitel in ihrer Geschichte aufzuschlagen“, erklären Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Ärzte der Welt, Care, Terre des Hommes, World Vision, Oxfam, Save the Children und zahlreiche andere Nichtregierungsorganisationen (NGO).

Die unmissverständliche Forderung der insgesamt 104 NGO: Die EU-Staats- und Regierungschefs müssten den „Vorschlag der EU-Kommission zur Migrationsabwehr stoppen“. Das Thema steht auf der Tagesordnung des EU-Gipfels am Dienstag und Mittwoch dieser Woche in Brüssel.

The migrants, most of them Syrian, repeatedly blocked a road outside the camp in the town of Oreokastro, a suburb of Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city.

Migrants at a refugee camp in northern Greece staged a successful protest against police restricting access to a non-governmental organisation that provided the camp with food they prefer to the bland official offerings.

A group of Syrians has advertised the tent they are living in on Airbnb, in an ironic dig against the miserable conditions they are experiencing in a camp in Greece.

In the advertisement, the Syrians say they have been living for three months in a tent in a refugee camp in Ritsona, north of Athens, and invite visitors to come and live with them, promising scorpions, dehydration and poor sanitation.

“This is a real opportunity to experience life as a Syrian refugee,” the advertisement said. “While EU politicians talk about refugees, you can have an authentic refugee experience – tents, wood-fire cooking, 41 degree heat, marginal sanitary situation, friendly scorpions, broken promises, even dehydration.”

The post, which appears to be heavily ironic, promises that “long-term stays always receive a generous discount – please inquire!”

Alarm phone Tanger (Maroc) ce soir : Décès de 3 personnes en mer aujourd’hui lors de l’arrestation de leur patera par la Marine Marocaine.

„11 personnes devaient partir en mer, 8 ont pu monter dans le bateau y compris une fille, les 3 autres sont restées au bord. Les 8 personnes ont été arrêtées à la ligne internationale. Pendant l’arrestation par la marine marocaine le convoi s’est renversé, 3 personnes se sont noyées et les 5 autres secourues. Les disparus: Pape Ndiaye, Cheikh Ndiaye et Saliou Fall.“

Déclaration: “ Justice. Un drame s’est produit aujourd’hui, la mort de 3 sénégalais en mer pendant leur arrestation à l’eau par la marine marocaine. Nous demandons la clarté sur cette affaire, les droits de l’Homme sont bafoués dans ce pays qui est le Maroc où l’homme noir n’est pas considéré. Nous demandons à retrouver les corps et à ce que justice soit faite.“
