Aufruf an alle, die betroffen sind von dem durch die Europäischen Union geführten Krieg gegen Migrant*innen und Refugees, sowohl an den Außengrenzen als auch innerhalb ihrer politischen und sozialen Ordnung
Am 6. Februar 2014 versuchten mehrere Migrant*innen in einer kollektiven Aktion über die Enclave von Ceuta (eine der zwei Grenzen der Europäischen Union auf afrikanischem Boden) das Meer zu überwinden. Die spanische Guardia Civil feuerte auf die Migrant*innen im Wasser mit Gummiegeschossen und Tränengas. Die marokkanische Polizei und lokale Rassist*innen machten bei dieser mörderischen Jagt auf Migrant*innen mit. Mindestens 15 von ihnen wurden getötet und 50 wurden vermisst. Dutzende wurden verletzt und illegal nach Marokko abgeschoben.

On the 5th of december the dutch cargo vessel the Erasmusgracht saved 393 Syrians (including 70 children) 250 miles south east of Salento, the „heel“ of the Italian „boot“, in the Ionic sea between Greece and Italy.
The 60 meter long vessel carrying the Syrians was – according to the dutch captain Joop van Zadel – so old it was sent on its last voyage. The boat left from Egypt for Italy and was abandonned with a non-functioning motor by the crew who left on a motor boat. The boat was then drifting for 2 days, happily with good weather. ”Otherwise they would not have survived and the rescue operation would not have been so successful as now.”

Tel est le raisonnement qui semble avoir inspiré la politique migratoire du gouvernement espagnol, qui contrôle les seules frontières terrestres entrel’Europe et l’Afrique. À Ceuta et Melilla, deux enclaves espagnoles sur le territoire marocain, des milliers de migrants africains tentent chaqueannée de franchir des clôtures toujours plus hautes, mieux équipées … et plus dangereuses.

Los inmigrantes habían iniciado el viaje desde las costas más próximas a la ciudad de Ceuta, previsiblemente desde Tánger, y navegaban a pocas millas de la costa ceutí cuando fueron interceptados por las unidades marroquíes, según han informado fuentes policiales.
En la intervención, que se ha producido a primeras horas de la mañana, no actuaron ni la Guardia Civil ni Salvamento Marítimo.
En la embarcación viajaban seis inmigrantes subsaharianos, todos ellos mayores de edad y en un aparente buen estado de salud.

Die Internationale Organisation für Migration (IOM) hat Maßnahmen zur Rettung von Flüchtlingen angemahnt: […] Swing kritisierte zudem die EU-Operation „Triton“ zur Rettung von Flüchtlingen aus dem Mittelmeer. Diese decke einen zu kleinen Bereich ab. Er befürchte einen Anstieg der Todeszahlen im Mittelmeer, sollte es kein angemessenes Nachfolgeprogramm für „Mare Nostrum“ geben. Im Jahr 2014 kamen nach IOM-Angaben mehr als 3.000 Menschen bei der Flucht über das Mittelmeer ums Leben. Weltweit seien rund 5.000 Menschen auf der Flucht gestorben. Dies sei ein deutlicher Anstieg im Vergleich zum Vorjahr.
Weltweit befänden sich derzeit rund 50 Millionen Menschen auf der Flucht, bei 33,3 Millionen handele es sich um Binnenflüchtlinge.

Voices of Lampedusa, curated by photojournalist Alessia Capasso, gathers together a series of interviews with those who are personally experiencing (or studying in depth) the consequences of European policy on life on a small island in the Mediterranean.
We’ll begin Voices of Lampedusa with an interview with Antonio Mazzeo, an Italian peace-researcher and journalist who has published several essays on conflicts in the Mediterranean area and on human rights violations. He received the „Premio G. Bassani – Italia Nostra 2010“ prize for journalism and began working as a militarization expert with the Collettivo Askavusa di Lampedusa (Lampedusa Askavusa Collective), which is involved in several struggles in the area. The installation of new military radar on the island a few months ago, justified as well by the need to monitor migrant routes, has led to numerous protests among citizens. Starting with Triton, the new Frontex operation, we’re back with a series of questions in order to gain a clearer picture of the relationship between EU migration policies and the process of militarization in the Mediterranean.
