This information leaflet is for people who are considering to cross the Aegean Sea between Greece and Turkey.
The undocumented crossing constitutes an offence both in Greece and Turkey and is above all very dangerous. This document aims neither to deter nor to encourage people to attempt the crossing but seeks to provide objective information about risks, rights and vital safety measures to take at sea.
We wish that the information contained in this document can save your life but you should know it will not make the crossing safer. For twenty years, the EU has been denying visas for most applicants. At the same time wars, conflicts and poverty are forcing out of their countries many people who wish to seek protection in Europe.
Despite the lack of legal ways to reach European territory and despite life-threatening dangers, many of you decide to emigrate anyway and cross the sea-border.

Time and Place of Incident: 14th of November 2014, Central Mediterranean Sea
Brief Summary of the Case: The Alarm Phone shift team was alerted to a case of immediate distress in the Mediterranean Sea. A vessel carrying up to 200 refugees off the coast of Libya was in danger of capsizing, with no other vessels in vicinity. The Italian coastguard alerted vessels to the situation of the refugees and a vessel directed itself to them. The shift team accompanied the refugees through repeated phone calls and reassured them that help was on its way. The vessel reached the refugee boat and conducted a successful rescue operation.

Le colloque « Théories postcoloniales au XXI siècle : pour une nouvelle lecture des représentations de l’autre » organisé les 3 et 4 mai 2014 à l’Université d’Oran par le laboratoire de Langues, Littérature, Civilisation/Histoire en Afrique en collaboration avec le SARI (Société d’Activités et de Recherches sur les Mondes Indiens – France) relance sa seconde édition les 12 et 13 mai 2015 à la faculté des Lettres, Langues et Arts d’Oran sous la thématique : « Lutte anticoloniale, entre discours, représentation et réception ».
From 19/11 a big struggel and hunger strike (24/11) of Syrian Refugees started in the center of Athens infront of the Greek Parlement demanding asylum in EU and protection in general (housing, medical care ext).
The last few days we created a solidarity assembly and movement to support them and becuase they demond a very important thing which is the right to freedom of movment and the responsibality of EU to protact at least the war refugees so I think its important issue. Most of the syrians they dont want to stay in Greece as first Eu country and they dont want to aplly for asylum here so they are in very bad condition mostly homeless in the parks and squires, and there should be another solution for them, in Greece you if dont have asylum or if you dont aplly for asylum you will not have any right to anything.
Melilla vuelve a ser escenario de una entrada irregular de inmigrantes subsaharianos, en esta ocasión por vía marítima. En la jornada de ayer, una patera con 17 personas a bordo llegó a la ciudad autónoma, según informó la Delegación del Gobierno en nota de prensa. El máximo dirigente de dicha institución, Abdelmalik El Barkani, señaló que la actitud de los inmigrantes fue “bastante violenta” y que algunos llegaron a agredir a los agentes del Grupo Especial de Actividades Subacuáticas (GEAS) que acudieron a interceptar la patera. Por ello, al llegar a tierra cuatro subsaharianos fueron detenidos, en concreto tres por los citados intentos de agresión y el cuarto tras ser identificado como el patrón de la embarcación.

Toñy Ramos, Melilla
Un grupo de cerca de 400 inmigrantes ha intentado saltar la valla que separa Melilla de Marruecos en la zona conocida como Barrio Chino, aprovechando los trabajos de los porteadores que cada jornada atraviesan temprano la frontera.
Un total de 15 podrían haberlo conseguido, según cuentan a esta hora fuentes migratorias a la Cadena SER.
Por otro lado, diecisiete inmigrantes de origen subsahariano llegaron ayer a Melilla a bordo de una patera, entre ellos dos embarazadas y dos menores de edad, y la Guardia Civil detuvo a cuatro de los ocupantes por enfrentarse violentamente a los agentes, a dos de los cuales les han causado lesiones leves. Los agentes rescataron a los que decidieron arrojarse al agua.

Heute vor einem Jahr hat die Europäische Union ihr neues Grenzüberwachungssystem EUROSUR angeschaltet. Ziel ist die Bekämpfung unerwünschter Migration, Boote mit Geflüchteten sollen möglichst noch gestoppt werden bevor sie die Gewässer von EU-Mitgliedstaaten erreichen. Anfangs waren in EUROSUR “nationale Kontrollzentren” (NKZ) von 19 Mitgliedstaaten untereinander vernetzt. Ab heute sollen alle übrigen EU-Mitglieder folgen, zuzüglich Island, der Schweiz und Liechtenstein (Dänemark, Irland und Großbritannien machen zunächst nicht mit).
Polizeibehörden aus Deutschland und Österreich patrouillieren in Italien, um unerwünschte Migranten an der Ausreise zu hindern. Die Behörden könnten damit das Schengener Abkommen verletzen
Bereits seit dem 10. November sind deutsche Polizisten in „trilateralen Streifen“ in Norditalien unterwegs, um dort im Grenzgebiet Migranten aufzuspüren. Auch Polizisten aus Österreich sind beteiligt. Die Patrouillen mit den italienischen Grenzbehörden zielen offenbar vornehmlich auf grenzüberschreitende Züge auf italienischem Hoheitsgebiet. Ziel ist laut einer Mitteilung des Bundesinnenministeriums eine „Erhöhung der Kontrolldichte“.
