This article is about people who left Choucha, and I understand the first sentence like this that 34 people who tried to leave by boat and were rescued on Wednesday morning and put in a center in Ben Guerdane, now left for another center in Tunis. The article continues: 12 women and 3 children from Choucha (?) were transfered to an accommodation in Medenine, and the Red Crescent is looking for more places for other refugees. UNHCR is checking their files in Zarzis, because they are asylum seekers (? I thought, all this is over?). On Tuesday, 83 people from different nationalities were saved in a shipwreck of a rubber boat, 52 miles north-west of Zarzis after their depatures from Zouara in Libya. 4 Sudanese people among them had been in Choucha before. They had got 1500 Dinar from UNHCR after accepting local integration. But they preferred to return to Libya and try to emigrate “illegally”. On the other hand, 9 refugees left for the USA, 11 others will join them on the 21th and others on the 22nd of July.

Is the Egyptian Revolution Dead?

Le journaliste français et militant communiste Henri Alleg, ancien directeur d’Alger Républicain et l’auteur du livre « La question » un récit sobre et terrible de la routine de la torture pratiquée par l’armée coloniale française est décédé, mercredi 17juillet à Paris à l’âge de 91 ans rapporte le journal l’Humanité. Ce compagnon de Maurice Audin, autre militant communiste enlevé par l’armée coloniale et « disparu » avait publié, en 1958, „La Question“ qui montrait le visage hideux et terrifiant de la torture systématique de l’armée française. Le livre avait été saisi à sa parution mais avait été réédité rapidement dans d’autres pays. Henry Alleg s’est installé en Algérie en 1939 et a milité au sein du Parti Communiste Algérien PCA, un parti où se retrouvaient à l’époque aussi bien des européens que des Algériens autochtones. Il prend en 1951 la direction du quotidien Alger Républicain et entre dans la clandestinité en 1955 après l’interdiction du journal. Dans la clandestinité, il a continué à témoigner en envoyant des articles au journal l’Humanité. Henry Alleg a été arrêté le 12 juin 1957 par les sinistres paras de la 10ème Division parachutiste, au domicile de Maurice Audin qui avait été arrêté la veillé et torturé à mort. Le corps de Maurice Audin n’a jamais été retrouvé, ses assassins l’ayant fait disparaitre. Pour Henry Alleg, ce sera un long mois de « séances » de tortures détaillé dans son livre. Henry Alleg a écrit La Question à la prison de Barberousse en faisant sortir les pages écrits par le biais de ses avocats. Le livre publié aux éditions de Minuit a été immédiatement interdit. Nils Anderson, récemment honoré à Alger, l’a publié, en Suisse, quatorze jours plus tard.Le livre a eu un impact considérable en révélant comme l’armée français «pacifiait » l’Algérie en mettant en place une machine à torturer à grande échelle. Trois ans après son arrestation, Henry Alleg a été condamné à 10 ans de prison pour « atteinte à la sûreté extérieure de l’État » et « reconstitution de ligue dissoute ». Transféré en France, il parvient à s’évader et rejoint la Tchécoslovaquie. A l’indépendance de l’Algérie, Henry Alleg participe à la renaissance du journal Alger Républicain. Après le coup d’Etat du 19 juin 1965, il quitte l’Algérie et s’installe en France. Il y a poursuivra ses activités militantes.
