For Boatpeople in Distress at Sea and in Cases of Pushback

The Watch The Med Alarm Phone is a ‘hotline’ for people in distress at sea. Our hotline will run 24/7 and will immediately raise alarm when refugees and migrants get into situations of distress at sea and are not promptly rescued. It will be managed by human rights activists from both sides of the Mediterranean and offer a multilingual team that will first advise all persons in distress to alert the officially responsible rescue teams. The Watch The Med Alarm Phone does not possess rescue-teams and we cannot offer direct protection. When a distress call is received, we will call the coast guards ourselves, and follow up on their response, making known to them that we are informed and ‘watching’ them. If they fail to respond, we will gather all imaginable political and public pressure to force them to do so.

The first the crew of the Antarctica knew of the disaster was a radio request to help a search and rescue operation. There were bodies in the water 200 miles off the coast of Malta. Two other ships – the Verdi and the Japan – were already at the scene, picking people out of the sea. The Antarctica was swiftly diverted and took command until the arrival of coastguard and naval ships.

Ceuta (EFE).- Una balsa neumática ha sido interceptada hoy en aguas del Estrecho de Gibraltar cuando se dirigía presuntamente hacia las costas de Cádiz con siete jóvenes inmigrantes a bordo. Según han informado a Efe fuentes policiales españolas, la intervención se ha producido a primeras horas de la mañana de hoy cuando fue vista la embarcación por un pesquero.

APPEL DE LA COALITION INTERNATIONALE DES SANS-PAPIERS, MIGRANT-E-S, REFUGIE-E-S ET DEMANDEURS D’ASILE (CISPM )

à  participer à la rencontre du 13 au 16 novembre 2014 à ROME (Italie)

La CISPM appelle tous ses membres des mouvements et collectifs de Sans-papiers, Migrant-e-s d’Europe,réfugié-e-s et demandeurs d’asile à participer à la prochaine rencontre de travail et d’action qui se déroulera à Rome, du 13 au 16 novembre, consacrée à l’organisation des luttes, présentes et à venir au nom de notre revendication pour l’égalité, la dignité et la liberté de circulation et d’installation pour toutes et tous.

La CISPM, créée à l’occasion de la traversée hautement symbolique de 9 frontières en Europe lors de la 1ère Marche européenne des Sans-papiers et Migrant-e-s réalisée en juin 2012, est le regroupement de collectifs de Sans-papiers et demandeurs d’asile résidant dans plusieurs pays européens, à ce jour : l’Allemagne, la Belgique, l’Italie, la France, les Pays-Bas, la Suisse. Mais aussi en Afrique : au Mali, en Côte d’Ivoire, au Sénégal et en Mauritanie, la CISPM visant de fait l’extension de la mobilisation à tous les acteurs de la migration, « ici et là-bas ». Son objectif est de lutter pour l’avancée effective des droits des Sans-papiers, Migrant-e-s, réfugié-e-s et demandeurs d’asile, à l’échelle européenne et internationale, la seule aujourd’hui pertinente pour attaquer les problèmes à leur véritable hauteur.
