Morocco recognise illegal immigrants
Sale – Morocco has unveiled details of an „exceptional operation“ to give official papers to some of its 25 000-40 000 illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa, many of whom hope to reach Europe.
The scheme, unveiled on Monday, is part of a new migration policy which the north African kingdom promised back in September in the face of growing international criticism.

Mali: l’Algérie entrouvre la frontière

L’Algérie a décidé d’ouvrir une fois tous les 15 jours ses frontières avec le Mali, par soucis pour les familles des deux cotés.

Deux semaines après avoir créé un «gouvernement local » en Cyrénaïque, des miliciens défenseurs du fédéralisme ont annoncé la création d’une compagnie pétrolière pour commercialiser le pétrole et d’une Banque régionale. Un pas de plus vers la désintégration de la Libye, alors que le pouvoir « central » est complètement désarmé et évoque la possibilité d’une intervention étrangère.

Italian navy arrests 16 human traffickers off Libya
ROME – The Italian navy said Sunday it has arrested 16 human traffickers aboard a so-called „mother ship“ in international waters off Libya.
Submarine surveillance ahead of Saturday’s raid was „of particular importance, notably for gathering proof“ against the traffickers, it said in a statement.
The fishing boat served as a staging area from which the traffickers dispatched their clients – Syrian migrants seeking asylum or a better life – aboard smaller, often rickety vessels to destinations in southern Europe.
The boat had been under surveillance, including by drones, hi-tech radars, night-vision equipment and the submarine, under stepped-up operations launched after two shipwrecks last month claimed some 500 lives.
It was located some 500 kilometers [300 miles] southeast of Sicily, near Libya, the navy said.
Also Saturday, the navy rescued 176 Syrian migrants from one of the boats dispatched by the „mother ship,“ it said.
The navy said the „mother ship“ itself had sunk after it took on water while being towed towards an Italian port.

Libya’s Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has warned his people of the possibility of foreign powers intervening unless the country’s current chaos ends.
„The international community cannot tolerate a state in the middle of the Mediterranean that is a source of violence, terrorism and murder,“ said Zeidan on Sunday in an appeal aimed at rallying his campaign against militia groups.Citing the example of Iraq, he warned against „the intervention of foreign occupation forces“ in Libya.
The people must take to the streets … and support the building up of the army and police.
Government decides on ten-day deadline for oil protestors

Prime minister Ali Zeidan today said that the government would be giving a ten-day deadline to protestors at the country’s oil export terminals to leave.
The decision came after the Crisis Committee of the General National Congress (GNC) had empowered the government to take action, said Zeidan, speaking at today’s press conference.
If the protestors did not comply, Zeidan said, the government would use its “powers and procedures,” to put an end to the strikes. He did not enlarge on what these powers or procedures might involve.

During the trip, which was organised by Ghadames Town Council and the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM Libya), discussions were held with the local authority and security officials, as well as representatives from civil society and women’s organisations.
Schnelle finanzielle Unterstützung für die Lampedusa-Flüchtlinge am Oranienplatz zur Verlängerung des Flüchtlingsstatus in Italien und der Vermeidung ihrer Illegalisierung
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer,
aus den Medien kennen wir alle die Situation der Flüchtlinge am Oranienplatz. Dort lebt seit einigen Monaten eine große Gruppe von Flüchtlingen, die zuerst aus ihren Heimatländern nach Libyen und dann während des Krieges in Libyen nach Lampedusa (Italien) geflohen sind. Dort erhielten sie zwar einen Flüchtlingsstatus, aber keinerlei Unterstützung, nur das Geld für eine Fahrkarte in ein anderes europäisches Land. Nun sind einige von ihnen hier in Berlin auf dem Oranienplatz, ohne dass sie vorher in Italien darüber informiert wurden, dass sie als anerkannte italienische Flüchtlinge zwar in Europa reisen können, jedoch weder eine Arbeitserlaubnis noch den Zugang zum Gesundheitssystem und den Sozialleistungen in den anderen europäischen Ländern bekommen. Viele von ihnen müssen in den nächsten Wochen nach Italien, um ihren Aufenthalt zu verlängern, um so ihrer gänzlichen Illegalisierung zu entgehen. Zwar sind schon einige Spenden zusammen gekommen, jedoch reichen diese nicht für die ca. 30 Menschen vom Oranienplatz, die in den nächsten Wochen nach Italien fahren müssen, um ihren Aufenthalt zu verlängern und so zumindest die Chance zu haben, in Europa bleiben zu können. In dieser Situation sind die Lampedusa-Flüchtlinge vom Oranienplatz dringend auf schnelle finanzielle Hilfe angewiesen.
