Displaced Migrants Face Growing Risks in Libya as Fighting Intensifies

Libya – IOM Libya is monitoring the growing insecurity of some 200,000 overseas migrants living and working in Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi. They include some 7,000 individuals IOM categorizes as “vulnerable migrants” in urgent need of evacuation assistance.

Human rights and refused asylum seekers in the Netherlands.
Since 2012, a group of people from a number of countries have formed a group in Amsterdam called We Are Here.
There are men and women, old and young. Some have been here for many years. Others are relative newcomers. What do they have in common? They all came to the Netherlands in search of protection. Another common factor is that they have all since been denied residence. Their asylum claims refused, or their temporary refugee status taken away. They have been ordered to leave the country but have refusedto do so, either because they fear for their lives if returned to their countries of origin, or because they dont have the paperwork necessary toreturn.

Eighty-two illegal refugees who human traffickers had promised to transport to Romania have been rescued after being marooned on a small boat 24 miles off the coast of Istanbul.
The group of 82, composed of Afghans, Syrians, and Iranians, included 15 children and 20 women, two of whom were pregnant. They had been left at sea after the captain promised to bring help to fix to a technical problem but never returned. The capacity of the 15-meter boat was 50 people, according to news reports.
