The French military intervention in Mali and the political situation in North Africa and in the Sahel region from a Pan-African point of view (English)

AfricAvenir is hosting a dialogue forum with the Pan-African political scientist and specialist for international relations Aziz Salmone Fall on Monday, 25February, at 7:00 pm at the GLS-Sprachenzentrum. Fall is prompted by the current French military intervention in Mali to analyze the political and geo-strategic situation in North Africa and in the Sahel region from a Pan-African point of view and to enable us a deeper insight into the causes of the crisis in this strategically ever important region.

Auch heute geht die „Kampagne des zivilen Ungehorsams“ in Port Said weiter. Am Sonntag hatten sich Tausende an den verschiedenen Demonstrationszügen beteiligt, die Uni und viele Schulen sind seitdem geschlossen, Geschäfte, Bars und Restaurants beteiligen sich tagsüber an dem Ausstand.

Die Arbeiter etlicher Betriebe hatten schon am Sonntag die Arbeit niedergelegt und sich zu sit ins am Arbeitsplatz versammelt.
Auch Beschäftige der Suezkanalgesellschaft beteiligen sich am Ausstand, bisher läuft der Verkehr im Suez Kanal aber noch reibungslos, obwohl der Hafen der Stadt (Photo oben) ebenfalls stillgelegt wurde.
Am gestrigen Montag beteiligten sich nach Angaben von ägyptischen Aktivisten über 40.000 Beschäftigte am Ausstand, 30 grosse Betriebe sind komplett lahm gelegt, so dass die Verbände der lokalen Unternehmer jetzt ebenfalls zu „Solidaritätskundgebungen“ aufrufen.
