Außenminister Çavuşoğlu hat sofortige Visafreiheit für türkische Bürger gefordert. Andernfalls werde sein Land den Deal mit der EU zur Flüchtlingsaufnahme platzen lassen.

Die Türkei hat der Europäischen Union noch einmal gedroht, das Flüchtlingsabkommen noch vor Ende dieses Jahres aufzukündigen, sollte ihre Forderung nach Visafreiheit für türkische Bürger in der EU nicht bald erfüllt werden. „Unsere Geduld neigt sich dem Ende zu“, sagte der türkische Außenminister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in einem Interview der Neuen Zürcher Zeitung. „Wir warten auf eine Antwort (der EU) in diesen Tagen. Wenn die nicht kommt, werden wir die Vereinbarung kündigen.“

Seven months after the European Union and Turkey struck an agreement to turn back the tide of Syrians fleeing west, not a single refugee has been sent back from Greece, and Brussels is losing its patience as overcrowded camps grow violent.

The agreement reached in March was designed to reduce the number of migrants crossing into Europe from Turkey, after more than a million people arrived in Europe last year, most reaching Greek islands by boat and continuing by land to Germany.

Under the deal, the European Union declared Turkey „a safe third country“, meaning those who make the crossing can be returned there, even if found to have fled Syria or other countries as refugees deserving protection. Turkey agreed to take them back, in return for a range of EU concessions.

Une quarantaine de migrants, en majorité algériens, ont tenté, dans la soirée de ce mardi de s’enfuir d’un centre de rétention administrative de Barcelone, en provoquant des incidents, a appris, hier, l’AFP, auprès de la police espagnole.

Selon cette dernière, les sans-papiers ont profité de l’heure du dîner, vers 20h30, pour tenter de s’enfuir, en passant par la cuisine, avant d’être rattrapés. Cette tentative a été derrière le rassemblement, une heure plus tard, de quelque 70 hommes, à l’intérieur de la cour du centre, refusant de regagner leurs chambres. «Ils ont cassé des éléments dans la cour et quelques ustensiles», à l’aide de «morceaux de bois» ou de «tringles métalliques», a précisé la police.

Le temps d’un week-end, Mouhcine Fikri est passé du statut de parfait inconnu à celui de symbole de lutte contre la « hogra ». Plusieurs milliers de manifestants ont défilé dans une dizaine de villes marocaines, le 30 octobre, pour crier leur indignation. Derrière le symbole qu’est devenu ce vendeur de poisson, dont la mort a ému tout le pays, il y a l’histoire d’un jeune autodidacte qui a multiplié les petits boulots pour se former un petit pécule et lancer son propre commerce.

A European Union task force that’s training the Libyan coast guard to intercept migrant traffickers acknowledges there will be safety risks.

The head of Operation Sophia said Wednesday the training program expects to see Libyan forces take control „in the spring of next year“ of rescue operations in their territorial waters, where about 3,000 migrants die annually.

Soccorsi coordinati da Guardia Costiera salvano 29 persone

Nuova strage nel Mediterraneo: un gommone si è avventurato in mare nonostante le condizioni proibitive (forza quattro), affondando a 25 miglia a nord delle coste libiche. I soccorsi, 5 navi coordinate dalla centrale operativa della Guardia costiera di Roma, hanno tratto in salvo 29 persone e recuperato 12 cadaveri. Continuano le attività di ricerca: al momento non si conosce il numero di eventuali dispersi, ma secondo i soccorritori i gommoni partono con un numero superiore di persone.

Die Menschenrechtsorganisation Amnesty International wirft der italienischen Polizei schwere Misshandlungen von Flüchtlingen vor. Sicherheitskräfte sollen Menschen mit Schlägen und Elektroschockgeräten zur Abgabe ihrer Fingerabdrücke gezwungen haben. In einigen Fällen liefen die Misshandlungen auf Folter hinaus.

Die italienischen Behörden sollen laut der Menschenrechtsorganisation Amnesty International Flüchtlinge schwer misshandelt haben.

Sicherheitskräfte hätten Flüchtlinge mit Schlägen und Elektroschockgeräten zur Abgabe von Fingerabdrücken gezwungen, heißt es in einer Untersuchung, die in Rom vorgelegt wurde. In einigen Fällen liefen die Misshandlungen „auf Folter hinaus“. Die Befunde beruhen auf der Befragung von rund 170 Flüchtlingen.

Since 2013, Welcome to Europe (w2eu) and Youth Without Borders (JOG) organise journeys for young refugees, to make it possible for them to return to the place where they had first reached Europe: The Island of Lesvos/Greece. This year, the ‘back to the border’ journey turned into a horror trip, especially, for all of us who were without European identity cards. Twice, the police and coast guard didn’t let us take the ferry to Piraeus (Athens) and leave the island as they said they had to re-check the asylum seekers cards for their genuinity – a paper issued by the Greek government itself. We observed dozens of people who were pulled out of the passengers queues at the airport while providing for passports or Greek aliens documents and dozens more who were unsuccessfully trying to leave from the island from the port along with us even though some of them were living and working in Greece for years.
