Der Italienische Staatsanwalt Carmelo Zuccaro hat in einem Interview mit der italienischen Zeitung “La Stampa” erneut öffentlich Phantasievorwürfe bezüglich einer angeblichen Kooperation zwischen zivilen Rettungsorganisationen und Schleppern erhoben. Er macht sich damit zum Teil einer Verleumdungskampagne. Dies ist für einen Vertreter der unabhängigen Justiz nicht nur unwürdig, sondern auch unzulässig. Sea-Watch erwägt rechtliche Schritte.

„Dass ein Vertreter der Justiz öffentlich Phantasievorwürfe gegen humanitäre Organisationen erhebt, ohne auch nur einmal mit den selbigen zu sprechen, ist ein Skandal”, sagt Sea-Watch Geschäftsführer Axel Grafmanns. “Zuccaro macht sich zum Teil einer Verleumdungskampagne gegen uns, die Vertreter von Frontex oder Lega Nord derzeit vorantreiben. Er sagt selbst, dass er noch nicht einmal weiß, wie er die angeblichen Beweise einsetzen will, und trotzdem beteiligt er sich an übler Stimmungsmache. Sea-Watch prüft deshalb derzeit die Rechtslage in Italien bezüglich einer Anzeige wegen übler Nachrede”, so Grafmanns.

Syrische Flüchtlinge hatten, aus Algerien kommend, schon die marokkanische Oasenstadt Figuig erreicht. AnwohnerInnen begannen, sie zu versorgen. Dann griff das marokkanische Militär ein und schob sie in das Grenzgebiet zurück. Auf der einen Seite blockieren sie nun algerische, auf der anderen Seite marokkanische Soldaten. Unter den Refugees sind viele Frauen und Kinder. AnwohnerInnen, NGO’s und Journalisten wird der Kontakt verwehrt. Vermutlich wollen die syrischen Flüchtlinge weiter nach Ceuta, Melilla und Europa. Letzte Nacht hat eine Frau ein Kind geboren, sie befinden sich ohne jegliche Assistenz im Staub des Niemandslands.

Ils y restent quelques jours dans la rase campagne pour, après une petite heure passée dans un quartier de Figuig, être évacués vers la zone tampon où ils sont coincés entre deux armées qui ne s’entendent que par le feu et la haine dans des conditions très inhumaines et déplorables.

Amid a surge in refugee boats from North Africa, a humanitarian worker describes one grueling day onboard a search and rescue ship on the Mediterranean Sea and his dismay at reactions to such rescues in Europe.

In the past week, almost 9,000 people were rescued on the Mediterranean Sea. Ed Taylor, Medecins Sans Frontieres’ project coordinator onboard the MV Aquarius, relives one such rescue on March 26, 2017. The search and rescue vessel, which has a 21-person crew and is run jointly by MSF and French charity SOS Mediterranee, rescued 515 people in five boats on one day last week.

She isn’t breathing, but her body is still warm. We lift her from the speedboat without even using a stretcher, her arms and legs dangling. With her limp body on deck – we continue the compressions. Hammering her chest in the hope that her heart will beat once more.

After 40 minutes, she’s cold. Her chest has become soft with the almost nonstop force. Her long hair obscures her face, along with petrol burns and abrasions.

If I had to guess, I’d say she was 22 or 23. I don’t even know her name.

Refugees sleeping rough in and around the Calais area are subject to “endemic” levels of police brutality on a daily basis, an alarming report has revealed, amid concerns that the region is on “police lockdown” in efforts to deter refugees from the area.

Research published exclusively by The Independent shows that displaced people, including scores of unaccompanied children, are experiencing routine violence, with some reporting having limbs dislocated as a result of police beatings, while others had tear gas sprayed directly in their faces.

Die EU-Mittelmeeranrainer errichten ein Netzwerk zur Kommunikation von Militärs und Grenzpolizeien. Auch Libyen, Ägypten, Algerien und Tunesien sollen dort mitmachen. Durch die Hintertür nähmen sie dann am Überwachungssystem EUROSUR teil. Geflüchtete könnten dann auf offener See aufgegriffen und nach Libyen zurückgebracht werden.

Noch in diesem Jahr soll das satellitengestützte Netzwerk „Seahorse Mediterranean“ („Seepferdchen Mittelmeer“) in Betrieb genommen werden. Dies teilte die Europäische Kommission auf eine parlamentarische Nachfrage mit. Dann erhielte die libysche Küstenwache, die zur Marine gehört, Informationen aus europäischen Überwachungssystemen. Das Ziel ist die libysche Beteiligung an Rettungseinsätzen außerhalb der Hoheitsgewässer.

Emozionato, Massimo Del Grande, padre del giornalista, ha annunciato che il figlio “dovrebbe arrivare verso le 10 di questa mattina a Bologna“. “Stiamo andando a prenderlo, è un gran giorno”, ha detto a Rainews 24. “Mi ha chiamato il ministro Alfano. Ci hanno detto che sta bene”, ha detto ancora aggiungendo che la prima cosa che farà sarà di “abbracciarlo forte”.

MARSEILLE taz | Am Dienstag durchsucht die Antiterroreinheit UCLAT eine Wohnung im siebten Stock des Hauses 58, Rue de Crimée in Marseille, nur wenige Schritte hinter dem Bahnhof St. Charles. Sie finden drei Kilogramm Sprengstoff, eine Uzi Maschinenpistole, zwei halbautomatische Pistolen, eine selbst gebaute Granate und eine Fahne des IS. In der Wohnung leben die Franzosen Clément Baur, 24, geboren in Ermont nahe Paris und Mahiedine Merabet, 30, geboren in Croix, einem Vorort von Lille. „Die Verbindung zwischen Einwanderung und Terrorismus ist evident“, twittert Marion Maréchal-Le Pen, Mitglied der Nationalversammlung und Nichte der Präsidentschaftskandidatin Marine Le Pen.

Einen halben Kilometer weiter südlich, auf der Haupteinkaufsstraße von Marseille, steht zu dieser Zeit Ikram Aslouni. Um sie herum laufen Touristen, die zu den sandfarbenen Hallen des alten Hafens schlendern, Bettler, Straßenkehrer, in der Hand trägt sie Einkaufstaschen des Textildiscounters Primark. „Der Front National vermischt alles: Islam, Terrorismus und Einwanderung“, sagt Aslouni. Sie trägt aufgeklebte hellrosa Fingernägel, die Sonnenbrille in den Haaren, blondierte Strähnen. „Sarkozy hat auch so geredet, aber er meinte es nicht wirklich ernst“, sagt Aslouni.

As hundreds of migrants continue to be hosted by members of leftist and anarchist groups in squats across the capital, the owners of the properties being occupied are struggling to gain access, Kathimerini understands.

Police sources said there are plans for vacating occupied properties, but that they are being delayed due to a lack of alternative accommodation for the migrants.

Even when there is legal action, the response by authorities is far from immediate. Police raided the occupied premises of a building belonging to the Hellenic Red Cross last month, 40 days after the organization took legal action.

E’ un evento prevedibile perché ciclico. Con l’inizio della bella stagione oltre al crescere delle foglie e allo sbocciare dei fiori, si rivede l’aumento degli sbarchi sulle coste italiane e, di conseguenza, l’incremento delle operazioni di soccorso in mare; segue l’arrivo di “transitanti” nelle città italiane e la crescita della spesa per la gestione dei flussi migratori: è qualcosa diventato “naturale” nel nostro Paese, perché legato agli irreversibili cicli della natura. L’ultimo anello della catena, consequenziale all’arrivo della stagione estiva, sono gli strali lanciati sui social da rappresentanti della politica italiana che, invece analizzare il problema e proporre soluzioni, preferiscono, spesso in mala fede, puntare il dito. «Chi paga questi taxi del Mediterraneo? E perché lo fa? – ha tuonato in un post sui social il vice presidente della Camera Luigi Di Maio – Presenteremo un’interrogazione in Parlamento, andremo fino in fondo a questa storia».

E’ tutto prevedibile, perché tutto è ciclico. Come il profumo della Primavera.

MILAN — When people think of racism and xenophobia in Italy, what comes to mind is usually prejudice toward Arabs, Africans and other easily identifiable minorities. But Romanians have become one of the major targets of xenophobic abuse here — despite the fact that the two countries are both European Union members that have similar languages and cultures.

A high-profile example of that prejudice occurred earlier in April, when a prominent Italian politician falsely accused Romania of exporting almost half of its criminals to Italy, then blamed the European Union for making it possible.

“Italy has imported 40 percent of [their] criminals from Romania. While Romania is importing from Italy our firms and our capital. What an amazing deal the EU is!,” wrote Luigi Di Maio, the vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Italy’s parliament, and one of the leading representatives of the populist Five Star Movement, in a controversial Facebook post.
