Après la plainte déposée par des «harraga» algériens contre l’administration du centre de détention provisoire des étrangers, à Valence, en Espagne, qui les a privés de toute liberté, ainsi que pour avoir été roués de coups pour avoir observé une grève de la faim, la machine diplomatique algérienne s’est manifestée, certainement sous l’impulsion du nouveau ministre des Affaires étrangères, Ramtane Lamamra.

We have now returned from a three-day visit to Sicily and Lampedusa. On October 21, we visited the Questura in Agrigento, where Eritrean families had come to identify the bodies of their loved ones. We observed that the process was disorganized. Many of the families were confused, distressed, and unable to obtain the information they were seeking.

Die Grenzagentur Frontex fängt Flüchtlinge auf See ab und schickt sie zurück. Das ist menschenrechtswidrig und verstößt gegen die Genfer Konvention.

Während europäische Spitzenpolitiker wie EU-Kommissionspräsident Manuel Barroso öffentlich Bedauern über die Toten vor Lampedusa demonstrieren, ist die europäische Grenzschutzagentur Frontex nach wie vor daran beteiligt, Flüchtlinge daran zu hindern, europäischen Boden zu betreten.

Méditerranée : enquête sur un naufrage fantôme – documentaire inédit<

On le sait le récent naufrage dans lequel des centaines de migrants sont morts au large de Lampedusa était loin d’être le premier. La preuve dans ce documentaire qui raconte l’histoire d’un dramatique naufrage qui a coûté la vie à 283 clandestins au large de la Sicile la nuit de Noël en 1996. Un naufrage sur lequel silence et secret ont plané pendant des années avant que le bateau ne soit localisé et que la justice fasse son travail. In der Nacht vom 25./26.10.2013 wurden 95 syrische Flüchtlinge von dem italienischen Kriegsschiff Chimera im Kanal von Sizilien gerettet. An Bord des Marineschiffes raubten ihnen die Militärs ihr Bargeld und Wertgegenstände im Wert von ca. 100.000,- Euro.

Sie wurden an Bord systematisch durchsucht und mit Metallsonden gescannt. Geld und Wertgegenstände wurden ihnen abgenommen. An Land erstatteten 30 der Flüchtlinge eine Anzeige.

Commemoration – gimmick for convenience of politicians

The deaths of 366 refugees within site of Lampedusa on 3 October shocked the world and exposed the failings of the EU and the international community to protect refugees. This week the Italian government organised a commemoration for those who died. Meron Estefanos and Father Musie Zerai, Eritreans who are working with the Eritrean refugees, were present. They described the so-called funeral as a gimmick arranged for the convenience of politicians.

The deaths could, and should, have been prevented. The refugees, both those who died and those who survived, and their families continue to be treated with contempt as the Italian authorities hand the management of the process to the Eritrean regime. Their statement on what they found is set out below.

Obituraries of Lampedusa victims banned in Eritrea

(Asmara 25 October) Members of Project Arbi Harnet (Freedom Friday) inside Eritrea have, this afternoon disclosed that fearing public discontent the Eritrean regime has ordered all Obituary notices of Lampedusa victims be taken off street notice boards in Asmara.

Following the accident on the 3rd of October, off the cost of Lampdusa that claimed the lives of over 350 Eritreans, Asmara residents had put up customary notices with pictures of victims and many people were gathering to read those notices and expressing their anger at the political and economic predicament that is pushing young Eritreans to take extreme measures to leave their country.

Members of the Project, who sent their report accompanied by a picture taken earlier this week, have disclosed that they had also been busy distributing the underground news paper they launched last September, as well as putting up their posters with urgent messages for people to challenge the political repression in Eritrea.

10 000 Menschen für das Bleiberecht der Refugees

Auf der antirassistischen Demonstration nach dem St. Pauli Heimspiel gingen mehr als 10 000 Menschen auf die Straße. Darunter Refugees, antirassistische Gruppen, Autonome, Stadtteilinitiativen, Anwohner_innen und natürlich viele Fans des FC St. Pauli. Dies ist die bisher größte Demonstration gegen die rassistische Abschiebepolitik des Hamburger Senates und ein starkes Signal, dass die Proteste nach zwei Wochen mit vor allem spontanen Demonstrationen sich noch weiter steigern können.

Bereits im Stadion kam es zu Solidaritätsaktionen von Fans. Nach Abpfiff wurden Bengalische Feuer auf einem nahe gelegenen Bunker entzündet. Auch ein Schornstein in der Bleicherstraße wurde in Form einer Solidaritätsaktion besetzt.

Im Moment befindet sich die Demo auf dem Weg zur Kirche auf St. Pauli. Die Proteste gehen morgen weiter mit einer Demonstration gegen rassistische Kontrollen, die um 13 Uhr von der Roten Flora startet.
