El portavoz de Interior del PSOE en el Congreso, Antonio Trevín, ha presentado una batería de nueve medidas alternativas a las cuchillas en la valla de Melilla y Ceuta, entre las que se encuentran la colocación de radares tecnológicos y aviones no tripulados, como los ‚drones‘.

Over the last weeks, we have been collaborating in the investigation on the 11.10.2013 wreck, mainly led by Espresso journalist Fabrizio Gatti.
Today he published his last article, with definite evidence that Italian rescue agency was informed of the boats ‚ distress as of 12.26, passed on the coordination to Malta, and did not deploy any of its several vessels nearbye to rescue the migrants until after 17.00, when the boat sank. Italy claims Malta didn’t ask it to do so…

In den tunesischen Städten Gafsa und Siliana ist es gestern zu neuen Unruhen gekommen. Anlass war der Jahrestag der blutigen Auseinandersetzungn in der Region vor einem Jahr. Bei den letztjährigen Protesten waren die Bullen massiv mit Schrotmunition gegen die Demonstranten vorgegangen, durch gezielte Abgabe von Schüssen in Kopfhöhe hatten Dutzende ihr Augenlicht verloren. Die örtlichen Gruppierungen des Gewerkschaftverbandes UGGT hatten deshalb zu einem Generalstreik und Demonstrationen in der Region aufgerufen.

Um Flüchtlinge weit im Vorfeld des EU-Zauns von Melilla abzuhalten, plant Marokko die Errichtung eines 70 bis 450 km langen Grenzzauns zu Algerien. Algerien hatte in den letzten Wochen spektakuläre Aktionen gegen den grenzüberschreitenden Schmuggel unternommen. Ein Grenzzaun würde möglicherweise die algerische Regierung nicht stören. Ist die EU an dem marokkanischen Zaun-Projekt beteiligt?

Serbian bid to house asylum seekers foiled after barracks burnt down

BELGRADE, Nov 28 (Reuters) – Serbian authorities suffered a setback in their bid to relocate hundreds of asylum seekers from a freezing forest on Thursday after a barracks they planned to use was torched following a protest by local residents.
The government in the European Union candidate country has faced growing criticism over its failure to house a rising tide of migrants, mainly from Africa and the Middle East, who have legally sought asylum.
