Lundi soir, Ibrahima Dialo a quitté libre le centre de rétention du Canet. Vendredi soir, il aurait été refoulé par la police aux frontières. Peu après, le jeune Guinéen a sauté du bateau avec un compatriote. Ce dernier a été retrouvé noyé dans les bassins du port. Une enquête est diligentée sur les circonstances de sa mort.

2014 could be the year that significant advancements are made in the way that Morocco treats ‘irregular migrants’ within its borders. After last year’s events, which saw Morocco come under pressure for taking steps to address human rights’ abuses, on 1st January, offices for the regularisation of migrants finally opened; however, migrants and NGOs remain cautious.
According to controversial estimates by the Moroccan Home Office, Sub-Saharan Africans are the most numerous amongst the 25 to 45 thousand irregular migrants present in the country. Heralding from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds in western and central Africa, migrants have already undertaken a perilous journey, but the last leg of the journey to ‘Fortress Europe’ can prove even more hazardous.

Faire la lumière sur cette tragédie et en tirer les conséquences.
Ibrahima DIALO, jeune Guinéen de 21 ans, a vu se noyer sous ses yeux son compagnon de route Mamadou SAYDOU dans le port de Marseille le 10 janvier après avoir sautés du cargo sur lequel ils étaient refoulés. Rescapé, Ibrahima n’a par contre pas échappé à l’enfermement dès sa sortie de l’eau… Il a finalement été libéré lundi 13 janvier. L’audience au TGI de mardi 14 janvier est donc annulée.

AFM turns down complaint on refusal to disclose Lampedusa rescue mission timeline
Armed Forces claims disclosure would affect international relations between Malta and Italy
The Armed Forces of Malta has turned down a complaint from MaltaToday on a Freedom of Information request it refused.
MaltaToday is demanding a detailed timeline of the rescue mission that took place on 11 October 2013, to establish how Italian and Maltese armed forces cooperated in the search and rescue mission after receiving a 1pm distress call by a boat carrying possibly over 400 asylum seekers and refugees.

Un réfugié se noie en refusant de quitter Marseille
Un garçon âgé d’environ 18 ans a été retrouvé noyé en début d’après-midi, à une douzaine de mètres de fond, par les gendarmes du peloton de sûreté portuaire de la Joliette, à la sortie du Grand port maritime de Marseille.
La gendarmerie avait été saisie de l’enquête après que deux jeunes hommes, vraisemblablement Guinéens, eurent sauté dans l’eau depuis le pont du cargo qui les ramenait vers leur pays hier.

Continua nel Centro di Primo soccorso ed accoglienza (CPSA) di Lampedusa il trattenimento illegittimo di 17 migranti siriani ed eritrei, tra i quali una giovane donna con gravi problemi psichici. Si tratta dei superstiti delle stragi di ottobre che rimangono rinchiusi nel centro, sembra che alcuni non abbiano ancora consentito al prelievo delle impronte digitali, perché la polizia e la magistratura stanno indagando per i reati di agevolazione dell’ingresso di irregolari e di tratta.

Lampedusa tragedy – a case of political bravado gone wrong?

Documents, maps and eye-witness accounts seem to indicate that the Maltese government took what was the riskiest and least logical of the six choices it had available on 11 October, when the country was charged with coordinating the rescue of hundreds of Syrian migrants off Lampedusa.
Any of the other five choices could have prevented the migrant tragedy, but all the available evidence leads to the conclusion that Malta had tried to rescue the migrants on its own, instead of asking for the assistance that was available.

Wir lassen die Dinge für sich selbst sprechen. Es ist das, was uns bei der Arbeit fasziniert, den Dingen auf die Spur zu kommen. Es ist zum Beispiel interessant zu sehen, wie in offiziellen Papieren eine Staatengemeinschaft ihre Werte verschiebt. Früher war der europäische Raum als ein Raum der Freiheit, der Sicherheit und des Rechts definiert. Die Freiheit stand an erster Stelle, das hat sich verschoben, inzwischen steht die Sicherheit zuerst. Gleichzeitig wird Sicherheit zu einem Binnengut für die Menschen „drinnen“, es entsteht ein offener Binnenverkehr. Und die Menschen „draußen“ fallen unter den Begriff der „illegalen Migration“. Wenn man sich die Papiere der EU oder aus dem Innenministerium anschaut, steht immer mehr das „Illegale“ im Vordergrund, die illegalen Schleuserorganisationen, die illegalen Migranten. Ähnliches ließ sich Anfang der 1990er beobachten, als der Ostblock zusammenbrach und über 400000 Asylbewerber nach Deutschland kamen. Auf einmal tauchten in offiziellen Papieren Begriffe wie Asylantenflut und Asylantenschwemme auf, als handele es sich um eine Naturkatastrophe. Gleichzeitig wurde die befristete Arbeitserlaubnis abgeschafft, die Menschen wurden abhängig von den Sozialleistungen des Staates. Seitdem hat sich das Klima wie man so schön sagt, nachhaltig verändert.
