Since 2013, only 8,116 Syrian refugees have been resettled to countries outside the region, and another 11,130 granted other types of visas. “È la legge del mare. Quello che non vogliono è, una volta salvati i migranti, attendere 4 giorni prima di ripartire”. Lo ha spiegato ieri l’ammiraglio Felicio Angrisano, comandante generale delle capitanerie di porto, in un’audizione davanti alla Commissione diritti umani del Senato sulle attività di salvataggio nel Canale di Sicilia. Dove la situazione è drammatica. Angrisano ha ribadito la necessità di mettere in campo il massimo sforzo di fronte ad un fenomeno “eccezionale”. Per il comandante, “nessun paese civile può tirarsi indietro” davanti all’emergenza immigrazione, la comunità internazionale e l’Ue devono prendere atto di trovarsi di fronte a una nuova nazione, quella dei migranti, composta da persone indebolite che devono vedere riconosciuti i propri diritti”.

Berlin – In der Bundesrepublik sind im vergangenen Jahr insgesamt 10.884 Menschen abgeschoben worden. Das sind so viele wie seit 2006 nicht mehr. Das geht aus einer Antwort der Bundesregierung auf eine Kleine Anfrage der Linksfraktion im Bundestag hervor. Die Zahl der Abschiebungen sei nach Jahren des Rückgangs 2014 das zweite Mal in Folge gestiegen, heißt es in der Antwort der Regierung, über welche die „Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung“ berichtet. Höher war die Quote zuletzt 2006 – damals wurden 13.894 Menschen abgeschoben. 2013 war erstmals wieder die 10.000er-Marke überschritten worden (10.198 Abschiebungen).
Die andalusische Menschenrechtsorganisation APDHA hat die Entwicklung der Migration an der Südgrenze zwischen 2011 und 2014 bilanziert:

Marruecos ha exhibido este miércoles en Rabat músculo y datos para demostrar el buen momento de las relaciones de cooperación en materia de seguridad, terrorismo y lucha contra la inmigración ilegal con España, cuando aún están calientes las reacciones a los atentados yihadistas de París. El ministro delegado de Interior, Charki Drais, el número dos del departamento, aprovechó una cita bilateral de representantes de los parlamentos de los dos países esta mañana en Rabat para subrayar que, durante 2014, su Gobierno había frustrado un total de 80 saltos masivos en las vallas de Ceuta y Melilla y había practicado un total de 37.000 detenciones de inmigrantes sin papeles, de las cuales estimó que unas 20.000 se habían realizado justo en el instante en el que los irregulares intentaron traspasar las alambradas de concertinas sin éxito.

What is smuggling of migrants?
To enter the EU, irregular migrants often turn to smugglers.
Smuggling of migrants is commonly understood as the intentional organisation or facilitation of the irregular movement of persons across state borders, which is provided in return for financial gain (or other gain) by the migrants to the smugglers. [1] Smuggling of migrants generally takes place with the consent of the person willing to move. However, the act of smuggling itself is often dangerous and violent, forcing people to unsafe and inhumane travelling conditions.

I am standing here before you today because the European Commission is determined to take action. We all heard on what happened over Christmas and New Year. The lives of around 1,200 migrants, mostly Syrians, were saved when the Italian Coast Guard and Frontex, in the framework of Joint Operation Triton, rescued two cargo vessels: the Ezadeen and the Blue Sky M. These are just two examples of the more than 12 cargo ships that arrived in Europe since September. Of course, many more people have risked their lives coming in numerous small boats or difficult journeys via land borders.
