Riot police remain but fail to slow passage of migrants crossing from Greece on way through Balkans to western Europe
Hundreds of migrants have crossed unhindered from Greece into Macedonia after overwhelmed security forces appeared to abandon a bid to stem their flow through the Balkans to western Europe following days of chaos and confrontation.

Today Theresa May and Bernard Cazeneuve came to town. They told some lies, spilled some ink, and took a walk. Of course, they made sure to get no where close the jungle or speak to any of those people who would be directly effected by their malign decisions. However, people here were not going to let their visit pass without making a statement.
There was a demonstration held in the city center. Local Calaisiens and people from the jungle got together and tried to get close to the Prefecture and express their disgust with the so-termed “solutions” to the crisis in Calais that were being presented today. Although few, they were able to get quite close to the Prefecture before being met and forced back by CRS.

French police boarded a train that had just crossed into the country from Italy on Sunday night and detained around 100 migrants, a move that sparked a protest where several pro-migrant activists were also arrested.
The train carrying the migrants was stopped at around 10:50pm local time in Menton, a town in the southeast corner of France near the Italy border. French authorities returned the migrants to the border, where they were taken to shelters in the Italian town of Ventimiglia.

Die griechische Insel Kos ist mit dem Andrang von Flüchtlingen überfordert. Die Polizei setzt Schlagstöcke und Löschschaum ein. Der Bürgermeister warnt: „Die Gefahr eines Blutvergießens ist real.“
Auf der griechischen Insel Kos ist es zu Zusammenstößen zwischen Polizei und Flüchtlingen gekommen. Mehrere Polizisten traktierten die Migranten mit Schlagstöcken, während andere Beamte die Menge mit einem Feuerlöscher am Verlassen eines Fußballstadions zu hindern suchten, wie die Nachrichtenagentur AFP berichtet. Demnach hatte die Polizei hunderte vorwiegend syrische und afghanische Flüchtlinge in das Stadion gebracht. Die Migranten hatten nach ihrer Überfahrt aus der Türkei teils mehrere Wochen an den Stränden und auf den Straßen der Insel übernachtet.

Erst ging das Trinkwasser aus, dann kam es zu einer wilden Rangelei: In einem Mannheimer Asylbewerberheim haben 200 Flüchtlinge gegen den Getränkemangel protestiert.
In Mannheim ist es wegen Wassermangels in einer Flüchtlingsunterkunft zu Tumulten gekommen. Nach Polizeiangaben waren drei Männer bei der Ausgabe von Trinkwasser leer ausgegangen und hatten daraufhin protestiert. Ihnen schlossen sich demnach etwa 200 Menschen an, die von Mitarbeitern der Unterkunft Getränke forderten und so erhebliche Tumulte auslösten.

The Hungarian government recently announced the construction of a 175 km, 3m high wall along its southern border with Serbia, in order to prevent people coming from Greece. At the fences of the Eastern European borders and the Spanish enclaves, in the Mediterranean sea, and in Calais, migrants die crossing borders and heavily policed bottlenecks – this will be no different. Walls will never be an answer to such a natural historical phenomenon – people leaving their homes in search of a better life. But the cost of such exclusionary policies, in lives or euros, cannot compete with the racist fervour that creates and sustains them.

Secondo il sito de l‘Unione Sarda, i 550 immigrati imbarcati a bordo della nave Bourbon Argos di Medici Senza Frontiere avrebbero inscenato una rivolta durata fino a tarda notte quando hanno scoperto di essere diretti alla volta di Cagliari. Dopo una prima sosta a Trapani, dove ieri sera sono sbarcati alcuni profughi, la nave si è diretta verso la Sardegna ma ha dovuto invertire la rotta dopo le proteste dei passeggeri. Ora ha puntato la prua verso Reggio Calabria.

Tunesiens Staatspräsident Essebsi hatte eine Woche nach dem Terroranschlag auf ein Strandhotel in al-Kantaoui, bei dem am 26. Juni 38 ausländische Feriengäste ermordet wurden, den Ausnahmezustand verhängt. Erst im März vergangenen Jahres war dieser knapp vier Jahre nach der Revolution aufgehoben worden. Im «Krieg gegen den Terrorismus» kann nun das Militär zum Schutz der Zivilbevölkerung eingesetzt werden. Zu den erweiterten Befugnissen während des zunächst für dreissig Tage geltenden Ausnahmezustands gehört allerdings auch das Recht, Demonstrationen aufzulösen. Bereits am 5. Juli hat das Militär von diesem Recht Gebrauch gemacht und ein Sit-in von Arbeitslosen auf den Transportwegen zu einer Phosphat-Fabrik im südtunesischen Gafsa gewaltsam aufgelöst.
In the face of migration policies that hamper millions of people in the world to move freely and to seek asylum in Europe without risking to die in the Mediterranean, the Tunisian association formed by the families of the Tunisian missing migrants, La Terre pour Tous, organizes on the 6th September FERRY FOR FREEDOM, an „illegal“ depart from the Tunisian coasts to enact freedom of movement against the deadly effects of the Visa regime, demanding legal and free access to Europe, as claimed by the campaign “Ferry not Frontex”.
The boat will leave from Hammamet on the 6th of September and we ask all the people and associations in Europe and in Tunisia that struggle for freedom of movement and migrant rights to join and support the event.
Together with many other Hungarian groups, Migszol is organizing a demonstration against the fence on the Serbian-Hungarian border and the xenophobic propaganda of the government on the 14th of July. No Border groups are joining us from Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia, and more are welcome!
