Neuf candidats à l’émigration clandestine ont été arrêtés, avant-hier, par les gendarmes de la brigade d’El Ançor au niveau de la plage des Andalouses. Les jeunes s’apprêtaient à rallier clandestinement les côtes espagnoles lorsqu’ils ont été repérés par les gendarmes. Une enquête a été ouverte afin d’identifier d’éventuels complices dans cette affaire de tentative d’émigration clandestine. En début de semaine, une autre tentative d’embarquement clandestin a été avortée au large de Mostaganem et 15 candidats à l’émigration clandestine ont été appréhendés. Quelques mois, auparavant, les éléments du groupement de la gendarmerie d’Oran avaient, neutralisé un réseau de 18 personnes, impliqués dans l’organisation d’opérations d’émigration clandestine. Les gendarmes ont récupéré 3 véhicules légers, un camion ainsi que plusieurs moteurs et des jerricans de carburants.

En 2016, le phénomène a connu une ampleur alarmante, comme en témoignent les dizaines de tentatives mises en échec. Plus de 760 harraga avaient été interceptés au niveau des plages de l’ouest du pays par les forces navales de la façade maritime ouest.

Since Egyptian authorities cracked down on people smuggling last year, the Eritrean population in Cairo has swelled. As the E.U. heaps praise on Egypt’s migration control measures, Eric Reidy examines their consequences for a vulnerable community.

CAIRO – “I was planning to leave Egypt by the sea. I didn’t have any plan to stay,” says Dejen, a 30-year-old Eritrean refugee. He’s sitting in the bedroom of an apartment in the Ard El-Lewa district of Cairo with three friends. Small, battered suitcases and backpacks are scattered across the floor, and a bed against the wall is waiting to be put together.

Dejen and his friends are moving in, preparing for a longer stay in Egypt than any of them had anticipated. “This year there is no way [to Europe]. The route is shut,” Dejen says, with a tired sigh.

MSF hat 127 Bootsflüchtlinge gerettet und bis kurz vor Lampedusa gebracht. Vor Erreichen der italienischen Gewässer übergab MSF die Boat People an die italienische Küstenwache. Die libysche Küstenwache hat nach eigenen Angaben 600 Flüchtlinge, die überwiegend aus den arabischen Nachbarländern kamen, vor Sabratha abgefangen. Diese Boat-people-Zusammensetzung ist sehr ungewöhnlich. Die Angaben können nicht überprüft werden.

Cambio di rotta nella politica dei salvataggi dei migranti. Sono giunti in serata a Lampedusa i 127 migranti che erano a bordo della nave Prudence di Medici senza frontiere. A portarli nell’isola – dopo un trasbordo dalla stessa nave – due imbarcazioni della Guardia Costiera classe 300 uscite a 33 miglia a sud dell’isola, fuori dalle acque territoriali.

Quarante- trois «harraga», parmi lesquels figurent une jeune femme enceinte accompagnée de son époux et trois mineurs, ont été interceptés par les garde-côtes de la Marine nationale, tôt, la matinée du jeudi, aux environs de 5h, au large de la localité de Bousfer-Plage, apprend-on auprès de la brigade de la gendarmerie de Bousfer.

Egypt has detained 464 migrants of different nationalities attempting to leave the country over the past two weeks, an army statement said on Monday.

Egypt’s army spokesman Tamer El-Refai said that the migrants were detained by army and navy forces between 24 June and 8 July.

During the same period, the army also thwarted attempts to smuggle 5,291 kg in narcotics as well as pharmaceuticals, tobacco, and cattle.

TUNIS: Tunisian security forces on Saturday rescued 126 sub-Saharan migrants including seven pregnant women who had been trying to reach Europe from Libya, a Red Crescent official said. Fishermen had alerted the authorities to the presence of a vessel in distress off Ben Guerdane in southern Tunisia near the border with Libya, Dr Mongi Slim told AFP. Among the migrants were 48 women, seven of them pregnant, and three children. Those rescued were mainly from Nigeria, Mali and Gambia, and had set off from Libya, he added. Tripoli – The Libyan Navy announced on Friday that it had rescued at least 20 boats that had been transporting thousands of migrants to Europe. They had departed Libya from the city of Sabratha and were headed to Italy. “Large rescue and interception operations are under way,” navy spokesman General Ayoub Qassem said. “Today is the day of a massive exodus of illegal migrants toward Europe.” The Libyan coastguard, fishing and commercial boats were working in coordination with the Italian authorities, he said. A Libyan oil tanker picked up 562 migrants, including dozens of women and children, and took them to Tripoli, a Libyan coastguard official said. Another group of migrants, whose size was not given, were taken to Zawiya, 50 kilometers (30 miles) to the west, this source said. In Rome, the Italian coastguard said it had sent several vessels and rerouted commercial ships to pick up 850 migrants. However, three other boats laden with migrants were in distress.

Die von der EU finanzierte Libysche Küstenwache hat während einer see- und völkerrechtswidrigen Rückführungsaktion am Vormittag des 10.05.2017 die Crew der Sea-Watch 2, sowie mehrere Hundert Flüchtende auf einem Holzboot in Lebensgefahr gebracht. Der Vorfall, bei dem ein Patrouillenboot der libyschen Marine unser Schiff beinahe rammte, wurde von Sea-Watch dokumentiert. Ziel der Libyer war es, ein Flüchtlingsboot aus internationalen Gewässern nach Libyen zurückzubringen. Dies geschah ganz im Sinne des Aktionsplans der EU, welcher vorsieht, die Libysche Marine und Küstenwache für die Migrationsabwehr einzuspannen. Ähnliche Aktionen haben schon in der Vergangenheit zu tödlichen Zwischenfällen geführt. Die EU muss von diesem Plan daher dringend Abstand nehmen, um die Situation auf dem Mittelmeer nicht weiter zu eskalieren. Es muss zudem eine unabhängige Untersuchung stattfinden, inwieweit möglicherweise europäische Behörden die illegale Rückführung veranlasst haben.
