„Più di 700 migranti sbarcati nelle coste siciliane. In poche ore sono state soccorse quattro imbarcazioni, a bordo tantissimi i minori in fuga dalla guerra civile siriana. Sono appena arrivati 208 migranti, tra cui otto minori, al porto di Pozzallo. La maggior parte di loro proviene dalla Somalia e dall’Eritrea.

Am Strand von Morghella – Pachino (Siracusa) haben Badende und TouristInnnen am 15.08.2013 159 Boat-people – unter ihnen 28 Frauen und 67 Kinder – an Land geholfen.

Pachino (Siracusa) : i bagnanti soccorrono decine di migranti stremati dal viaggio su un barcone. Napolitano: „Gesto che fa onore all’Italia“.
“Le immagini trasmesse ieri dalla TV delle decine di bagnanti, sulla spiaggia di Morghella – Pachino (Siracusa) che si sono spinti generosamente in mare per aiutare profughi provenienti dalla Siria, in gran parte bambini, a raggiungere la riva mettendosi in salvo, sono di quelle che fanno onore all’Italia”. A parlare è il Presidente della Repubblica Giorgio Napolitano che in una nota esalta il gesto dei bagnanti che ieri, sulla spiaggia di Monachella, a Pachino nel Siracusano, con una catena umana hanno soccorso i migranti, stremati dal viaggio e li hanno trasportati a riva a nuoto. Si tratta di 159 cittadini extracomunitari, tra cui 64 uomini, 28 donne e 67 minori, di presunta nazionalità siriana che erano a bordo di una imbarcazione di legno che si è arenata a pochi metri dalla costa. La maggior parte dei migranti, rimasta sul barcone, è stata poi presa a bordo delle unità di soccorso e trasferita a terra. Ora donna, uomini e bambini sono stati trasferiti al centro di Priolo ed al centro Umberto I di Siracusa.

Second group of migrants arrives, total reaches 199 in 24 hours
A second group of 115 migrants was brought to Malta last night, bringing the total of arrivals in less than 24 hours to 199.
The immigrants were rescued by a patrol boat of the Armed Forces of Malta. They were on dinghy 90 miles off Malta.
The first group, of 84 was brought to Malta Tuesday morning.

The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) last night rescued a group of 84 migrants at sea. The migrants claiming to be Syrian, Eritrean and Nigerian were spotted on a rubber dinghy by the AFM and brought in at Hay Wharf just before 9am.
Nuovi sbarchi a Lampedusa: 2 gommoni soccorsi , 210 a bordo
Altri due gommoni con a bordo in totale 210 migranti sono stati soccorsi dalla Guardia costiera nel Canale di Sicilia e condotti a Lampedusa. Il primo dei due natanti e‘ stato avvistato dal pattugliatore „Corsi“ a circa 70 miglia a Sud dell’isola, con un carico di 100 persone. Mentre erano in corso le operazioni di trasbordo, alla centrale operativa della Guardia Costiera di Roma e‘ giunta la richiesta lanciata con un telefono satellitare da uno dei 110 passeggeri di un altro gommone, in avaria a circa 35 miglia piu‘ a Sud rispetto. Tutti i profughi sono stati imbarcati sul „Corsi“, che si e‘ diretto a Lampedusa. AGI .

Spain rescues more than 100 migrants from sea
Spanish rescue services said they had picked up more than 100 African migrants from boats in the Atlantic and Mediterranean sea on Saturday, incidents that have become increasingly rare.
Off the Canary island of Tenerife 26 migrants were rescued, some of them apparently after two weeks at sea, the Red Cross told AFP.
„Various circumstances, like the situation in the Sahel region and Arab countries as well as the fight against (clandestine) immigration to Spain across the Atlantic, have changed the flow of refugees these past months and years,“ the police chief of Spain’s North African enclave Melilla, Abdelmalik El Barkani, said earlier this year.
On Saturday, 47 migrants travelling on three boats were also rescued from the Mediterranean and taken to the town of Almeria in southern Spain. Thirty-nine others were transferred to Ceuta, also on the north African coast.
In a week Spanish rescuers have assisted several hundred migrants, after 3,804 would-be immigrants reached the Spanish coast last year, according to interior ministry figures.
The Canary islands, off the northwest coast of Africa, counted 31,678 arrivals of clandestine migrants in 2006, the highest number ever.
