Zwei Boote wurden von der italienischen Küstenwacht und der Italienischen Marine aufgebracht. Die Flüchtlinge aus verschiedenen afrikanischen Ländern waren aus Libyen gestartet, unter ihnen 50 Frauen. Alle wurden nach Lampedusa gebracht.

„Die gängige Politikwissenschaft untersucht die Politik von oben. Sie betrachtet die staatliche Ebene, analysiert Verfassungen und Wahlgesetze oder zählt, wie viele Frauen im Parlament sitzen beziehungsweise überhaupt in Entscheidungspositionen vertreten sind. Aus dieser Perspektive ist die Antwort eindeutig: Ägypterinnen sind die Verliererinnen der Revolution. Sie sind mit zwei Prozent im Parlament vertreten, und auch im Verfassungskomitee sitzt so gut wie keine Frau. Eine unter Mubarak eingeführte Quotenregelung, die Frauen 12 Prozent der Sitze im Parlament garantierte, wurde im Juli 2011 vom Militärrat abgeschafft. Im neu gewählten ägyptischen Parlament sind lediglich zwölf Frauen vertreten. Auf der Seite der Gewinner: Viele Ägypterinnen der Mittelklasse wählten die Muslimbruderschaft und auch die Salafisten der „Al-Nour“-Partei, die heute das Parlament dominieren.
Betrachten wir aber die „Politik von unten“ und nehmen damit die Perspektive der Transformationsforschung ein: Dann werden wir feststellen, dass in Sachen soziale Bewegung und Wertewandel, hinsichtlich der Beziehung zwischen den Geschlechtern und auch zwischen den Generationen die Frauen die Gewinnerinnen der Revolution sind.“

Background to the event:
In an attempt to prevent „irregular migration“ from Africa to Europe, some European countries implement border control measures outside their own territory, at sea and on land. States have reached agreements to intercept boats at sea and return people to countries in West and North Africa, in circumstances that expose people to serious human rights violations. As there is an almost complete lack of transparency surrounding many European countries‘ border management practices and agreements with North and West African states, these violations go unchecked.
The award-winning documentary „Closed Sea“ gives a unique insight into the consequences of migration control policies for real people. It aims to tell the story of a group of African refugees who were pushed back to Libya by the Italian authorities. In the documentary, the witnesses of these push-back policies talk about what happened to them on the boats and after they were returned to Libya. The makers met their witnesses in Shousha refugee camp, at the border between Libya and Tunisia, and in two reception camps for asylum seekers (C.A.R.A.) in southern Italy. The interviews constitute the main part of the documentary, along with a session of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, in the landmark case Hirsi Jamaa and others v. Italy. In the final judgment delivered in February 2012, the European Court of Human Rights found that a push-back operation conducted by Italy in May 2009 violated the European Convention on Human Rights.
Amnesty International organises this event as part of its campaign “When you don’t exist”, which aims to improve the protection of human rights for migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers in Europe and its borders. Under the slogan “S.O.S. Europe”, Amnesty’s campaign seeks to shine a light on human rights violations at the borders of Europe and aims to hold those who are responsible to account. Près de 400 Harragas arrêtés en Algérie depuis le début de l’année
Une fois de plus les gardes côtes algériens ont intercepté des dizaines de harragas au large de Mostaganem.
49 candidats à l’émigration clandestine ont été interceptés au large de Mostaganem selon l’APS. Les 49 harragas ont été arrêtés mardi 9 octobre au large de Mostaganem alors qu’ils tentaient ce voyage périlleux. Les harragas en question ont pris le départ au large de Tenès, une ville situé à une centaine de kilomètres à l’ouest d’Alger.
„Auf eine Initiative des „Sozialforum Maghreb“ hin versammelte sich am vergangenen Wochenende des 06./07. Oktober 12 ein Sozialforum Migration (Forum social des migrants) in Oujda, im Nordosten Marokkos, in wenigen Kilometern Entfernung von der Grenze zu Algerien.
Dazu kamen rund 500 Menschen zusammen. Eine Mehrheit von ihnen kam aus Marokko, unter ihnen circa 180 subsaharische Einwanderer, die derzeit in dem Maghreb-Land leben. Hinzu kamen Menschenrechts-AktivistInnen, GewerkschafterInnen und Intellektuelle sowie Vertreter sozialer Bewegungen. Aus Frankreich und Belgien waren NGO-VertreterInnen, Aktive aus antirassistischen Organisation (wie SOS Migrants Brüssel) oder europäisch-maghrebinischer Vereinigungen wie der FTCR („Verband der Tunesier für Bürgerrechte auf beiden Ufern“, gemeint: des Mittelmeers) angereist. Unter ihnen auch der Verfasser dieser Zeilen.“

Family fathers, female workers, young boys and girls born in Italy. Many of them arrive every day in the Identification and Expulsion centres (CIE) of Rome. They did not commit any crime, nevertheless they risk to spend 18 months behind bars waiting to be expelled. They detention is validated by a Justice of the Peace. In the name of the Italian People. An expired visa is enough. According to the law. And this is also enough to reassure public opinion and delete the problem. However we decided to go and take a look. A short doc came out of it, a journey made of images and stories from the CIE of Roma. Since we believe that showing those places and listen to those voices means breaking a definition. As well as confirming that no human being is illegal. Not even when the law say so.
In the name of the Italian People is the first of a series of short documentaries produced by ZaLab with the support of Open Society Foundations on the serious democratic emergency in today Italy. The main aim of the mini-docs is to narrate the several violations of fundamental rights across the country and to collect live testimonies from those who personally suffer from the situation, out of preconceptions and journalistic simplifications. ZaLab short docs are conceived for web distribution within the context of public awareness and advocacy campaigns.

Immigrati: Lampedusa, Guardia Costiera salva 74 persone su un gommone
Roma, 4 ott. (Adnkronos) – La Guardia Costiera ha soccorso 74 immigrati che si trovavano a bordo di un gommone a circa 45 miglia a sud est di Lampedusa. Ricevuta una telefonata satellitare che chiedeva aiuto, le Capitanerie di Porto hanno fatto salpare due motovedette, che hanno raggiunto l’imbarcazione in difficolta‘. Una motovedetta ha preso a bordo 36 persone, le altre 38 sono state trasferite sull’altro mezzo della Guardia Costiera. Le due motovedette hanno quindi fatto rotta verso il porto di Lampedusa, il loro arrivo e‘ previsto dopo le 15.
