Gaz : l’Europe se tourne vers l’Algérie pour échapper à la Russie

L’Europe compte augmenter ses importations en gaz algérien pour réduire sa dépendance à la Russie, sur fond du conflit en Ukraine. Les négociations entre un représentant de l’UE et des responsables de Sonatrach ont commencé en mai dernier à Alger.

Les ministres de l’Energie de trois pays européens, Portugal, Espagne et France vont se réunir mardi prochain à Paris. Ils devront finaliser un plan visant à augmenter les importations en gaz naturel algérien pour réduire le poids de la Russie sur le marché européen de l’énergie, a rapporté le Financial Times.

EU leaders have decided to create a new system of quarantining migrants in southern Italy and Greece to enable the forcible and swift registration, fingerprinting, expulsion, and, if necessary, detention for up to 18 months of those deemed to be illegal immigrants crossing the Mediterranean from Libya.

Mit der Freilassung des Al-Dschasira-Journalisten Ahmed Mansur ist der Skandal nicht beendet. Steckt System dahinter oder hat Ägypten interveniert? Die Festnahme von Ahmed Mansur war wohl auf jeden Fall ein Skandal. Entweder zeigt sie systemische Probleme im deutschen Fahndungs- und Auslieferungsrecht. Oder es handelt sich um eine Willfährigkeit gegenüber der ägyptischen Regierung. Der Skandal ist mit der Freilassung des ägyptischen Al-Dschasira-Journalisten jedenfalls nicht beendet.

Die Luftwaffe der vom Westen anerkannten libyschen Regierung in Tobrouk hat angekündigt, dass sie Luftschläge gegen EU-Kriegsschiffe ausführen würde, falls sie in Libyens Territorialgewässer eindringen würden. Zudem vermutet die libysche Regierung, dass ein italienisches Schiff gestern auf ein Flüchtlingsboot geschossen hat – es gab durch die Schüsse einen toten und einen schwerverletzten Flüchtling.

Air force threatens airstrikes as EU anti-migrant smuggler mission begins

As the EU began the intelligence collection first phase of its operation to combat Libyan people-smugglers, Air Force commander Saqr Geroushi has warned that EU vessels could be attacked if they enter Libyan waters without authorisation. “Any vessel found in Libyan waters without previous cooperation or permission will be targeted by the air force,” Geroushi told Reuters last night.

The United Nations’ hopes for the formation of a Libyan unity government before the start of the holy month of Ramadan have faded away, together with the prospect for a quick resolution of institutional bickering which has reached the Maltese justice system. Despite UN special envoy Bernardino Leon’s valiant efforts to bridge the differences between the internationally recognised government and the self-declared Salvation government, a draft peace plan has so far been rejected and violent clashes continue unabated. The conflict has not been restricted to the control of territory and the country’s rich oil resources – the instability has not only paralysed the country’s economy, it has also brought the country’s main institutions to a standstill.A number of Libyan institutions, including the major telecommunications company and the investment authority, have opened offices in Malta and the squabble over the vast fortunes controlled by these institutions have reached the Maltese courts.
