Un gommone carico di migranti si avvicina ad un cargo. Ha un tubolare completamente sgonfio. Il gommone si ribalta, le persone annaspano nel mare. Non tutti sanno nuotare. I dispersi sono decine. Immagini esclusive di un dramma come tanti nel Mare Mediterraneo, un rischio che migliaia di migranti in fuga da guerra e persecuzione sono costretti a correre per tentare di salvarsi la vita.
In italienischen Regierungskreisen setzt sich die Auffassung durch, dass eine westliche Militärintervention in Libyen derzeit keine Erfolgsmöglichkeit hätte. Stattdessen publizieren die italienischen Tageszeitungen Statements zu dem Vorschlag, die libyschen Häfen militärisch zu blockieren und Spezialkommandos in die Hafenstädte zu schicken. Die Boote, mit denen Flüchtlinge über das Mittelmeer aufbrechen könnten, sollen dabei zerstört werden. Die Forderung, zuerst humanitäre Korridore für die Flüchtinge an der libyschen Küste zu öffnen, bleibt bei den offiziösen Vorschlägen unberücksichtigt.
Immer mehr Flüchtlinge kommen nach Deutschland – allein für 2015 rechnen die Behörden mit mindestens 300.000 Asylanträgen. Gleichzeitig erreicht die Zahl der Abschiebungen den höchsten Stand seit acht Jahren.
Berlin – In der Bundesrepublik sind im vergangenen Jahr insgesamt 10.884 Menschen abgeschoben worden. Das sind so viele wie seit 2006 nicht mehr. Das geht aus einer Antwort der Bundesregierung auf eine Kleine Anfrage der Linksfraktion im Bundestag hervor. Die Zahl der Abschiebungen sei nach Jahren des Rückgangs 2014 das zweite Mal in Folge gestiegen, heißt es in der Antwort der Regierung, über welche die „Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung“ berichtet. Höher war die Quote zuletzt 2006 – damals wurden 13.894 Menschen abgeschoben. 2013 war erstmals wieder die 10.000er-Marke überschritten worden (10.198 Abschiebungen).
Le Lundi 9 Février et juste après la conférence de presse du ministre de l’intérieur, les forces de l’ordre se sont déployées en masse afin d’encercler le grand campement des migrants subsahariens au mont de Gourogou à 10 Km de la ville de Nador. Cette action a mené à une large opération de ratissage pour l’arrestation des migrants présents au campement, ainsi que ceux qui ont participé à la tentative de traverser la barrière vers Melilla le même jour. On a compté plus de 700 migrants arrêtés, parmi eux 3 femmes et beaucoup de mineurs dont on ne connait pas le nombre exact.

Summary of the Case: On Friday the 16th of January 2015, in the morning, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by Father Mussie Zerai to a vessel in distress that carried approximately 450 people. Father Zerai forwarded the coordinates and the satellite phone number from the people on board as well as a text message urgently requesting a rescue operation. The first attempt of the shift team to reach the migrants failed and so they quickly turned to the Italian coastguard which stated that they knew about the case but were unwilling to give out further information.

Situation: Vessel in distress in Libyan waters, carrying between 200-300 people
Status of WTM Investigation: Ongoing (latest information received on the 16th of January 2015)
Place of Incident: Central Mediterranean Sea, approximately 20 miles off the coast of Libya
Summary of the Case: On Thursday the 15th of January 2015, in the afternoon, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by email to a vessel in distress with approximately 300 people on board. The contact person stated that the passengers were from Somalia, Eritrea and other countries, including 25 children and 60 women. The shift team tried to reach the migrants via the provided Thuraya satellite phone number but was unable to get through. It notified the Italian coastguard and forwarded the Thuraya number. In a phone conversation, the coastguard suggested that they had reached the boat via phone, were able to localise its position and would carry out a rescue operation. However, it was not entirely certain whether they were dealing with the same vessel in distress as the coastguard did not want to provide or verify further information.

Erste Studienergebnisse zeigen, dass die „Aspirationen“ auch nicht durch massenhaften Tod an den EU-Grenzen zu brechen sind. Ab Frühjahr 2015 – mit der Besserung des Wetters im zentralen Mittelmeer und der dann steigenden Zahl von Boat-people – ergebe sich daher für die EU ein Dilemma, das nicht mehr mit den hergebrachten Mitteln gelöst werden könne.
