Egypt’s „Rebel“ (Tamarod) campaign issued a statement Sunday saying they are highly concerned with comments made by Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim that they understood as foregrounding the possible return of the notorious Mubarak era state security apparatus.
In a press conference held by the interior ministry Saturday, Ibrahim announced that departments of state security tasked with fighting extremism and monitoring political and religious activity, terminated after the January 25 Revolution, have been reinstated. He further added that a new police reshuffle will be announced Monday and will include police officers who have been excluded before.

Manifestations nocturnes dans plusieurs régions de Tunisie (MAJ)
Cette soirée du samedi 27 juillet, jour de l’enterrement du martyr Moamed Brahmi tombé sous le gouvernement de la Troïka, s’annonce sous des auspices de nuit blanche sur la Tunisie. La Tunisie bout, les tunisiens réputés pour leur historique pacifisme sortent dans les rues manifester leur indignation et leur colère.
Ce soir, les Tunisiens de plusieurs régions sont dans les rues pour condamner et manifester leur colère après l’assassinat de Mohamed Brahmi. En dehors du Bardo à Tunis, des groupes de tout âge sont sortis ce soir, à sfax, à Sousse, à Mahdia, au Kéf, à Gafsa, à Bizerte etc… pour dénoncer ce crime odieux mais également pour dénoncer les violences policières subies ce matin par les manifestants.
MAJ : Les forces de police commencent à disperser la manifestation de Sfax en usant de gazs lacrymogénes contre les 5000 personnes réunies devant la municipalité.

Non si arrestano i flussi migratori verso le coste italiane e salgono gia‘ a oltre 450 le persone salvate nel Canale di Sicilia in meno di 24 ore. Lo rende noto la Guardia Costiera. Questa mattina, nel porto di Lampedusa, sono giunti a bordo di due motovedette della Guardia Costiera due gruppi di migranti, rispettivamente 50 e 90, tra cui 23 donne, soccorsi su due gommoni dopo aver chiesto aiuto alla sala operativa di Palermo tramite telefono satellitare.Le motovedette della Guardia Costiera, la Marina militare e la Guardia di Finanza sono al momento impegnate in soccorso di altre due unita‘ in difficolta‘ nel Canale di Sicilia. La prima, un barcone in legno con 250 persone, e‘ stata prima intercettata da un mezzo navale della Gdf a 50 miglia da Lampedusa e successivamente raggiunta anche dalla nave Cigala Fulgosi della marina militare, che ha assistito le donne e i bambini presenti a bordo, e da due motovedette della guardia costiera, che hanno proceduto al trasbordo di tutti gli altri occupanti. Altri 32 migranti, stipati su un piccolo gommone, dopo aver richiesto aiuto tramite telefono satellitare, sono stati recuperati a bordo di un’altra motovedetta della Guardia Costiera.Al momento, riferisce la nota, i soccorritori si stanno dirigendo in direzione del porto di Lampedusa, dove in serata sono attesi anche i 22 naufraghi salvati ieri al largo delle coste libiche da due mercantili panamensi, dirottati in zona dalla Guardia costiera italiana. Si tratta delle navi Gaz Sinergy e Gaz United, che dopo aver recuperato dall’acqua i migranti hanno continuato le ricerche in zona, proseguite anche per tutta la notte, senza riscontrare tracce o presenza di altri eventuali naufraghi. Rifocillati e assistiti dal personale di bordo, i migranti sono stati in seguito trasferiti sulla nave Kornati, di bandiera maltese, sulla quale stanno viaggiando in attesa di essere trasbordati sulle motovedette della Guardia Costiera di Lampedusa ed essere trasferiti sulla terraferma.Uno dei mezzi della Guardia Costiera di Lampedusa, uscito in mare per assistenza migranti, ha infine soccorso un marittimo tunisino feritosi a bordo di un peschereccio. Tutte le operazioni sono coordinate dalla Centrale operativa del Comando generale delle Capitanerie di porto-Guardia costiera, che nel frattempo e‘ impegnato a localizzare un’altra richiesta di aiuto di migranti.

Dans un article intitulé « A propos du putsch égyptien : le naufrage des gauches du monde arabe se confirme » (Maghreb Emergent, 15 juillet 2013), l’universitaire algérien Ahmed Henni attire l’attention, à travers l’exemple du coup de force contre le président islamiste Mohamed Morsi, sur les risques du déficit d’autonomie des organisations de gauche du monde arabe vis-à-vis des pouvoirs en place, encore dominés par l’armée et ou/les services secrets. Je ne m’attarderais pas sur la critique nécessaire des alliances contractées par des partis censés être l’« avant-garde des masses » avec des régimes autoritaires (Algérie) voire sanguinaires (Syrie). En revanche, le point de vue de l’auteur sur la situation en Egypte mérite qu’on s’y arrête tant il révèle une perception de la réalité gouvernée par deux idées « fixes » pour ainsi dire : la gauche a soutenu et soutient toujours le despotisme laïc, et les grandes mobilisations contre les islamistes sont le produit de savantes manipulations des moukhabarate (services de renseignements).

A propos du putsch égyptien : le naufrage des gauches du monde arabe se confirme
Ahmed Henni* estime, dans cet article**, que l’armée égyptienne a patiemment préparé l’opinion, un an durant, au renversement d’un président légitime, Mohamed Morsi, et a même fourni la logistique des manifestations du 30 juin 2013. L’attitude des élites de gauche en Egypte, écrit-il, a été la même que celle des élites de gauche algériennes qui ont légitimé le coup d’Etat de janvier 1992. Le refus des résultats du suffrage universel, écrit-il, « montre qu’une grande partie des gauches du monde arabe ne considère pas l’ensemble de la population comme des citoyens mais, pour une bonne part d’entre eux, comme des ‘’égarés’’ trompés par les islamistes ».

As pro-Morsi demonstrations enter their fourth week in Egypt with often deadly consequences, the impact of events there on Libyan politics becomes ever clearer with different groups taking sides and divisions emerging. The ousting of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has made Islamists elsewhere hesitant about the democratic process and unsettled the already fragile ‘political Islam’. Those who were once cautiously willing to adopt democracy now question its value.

Musmari killing sparks protests against Muslim Brotherhood

The killing of popular Libyan political activist, Abdulsalam Musmari, in Benghazi has sparked country-wide protests against the Muslim Brotherhood.
Hundreds of men and women in Benghazi took to the streets last night in fury at the assassination of Musmari, one in a string of recent killings. Two military officials were also assassinated last night in Benghazi, one shot in the back while he was praying.
Convinced that members of the Muslim Brotherhood are behind the attacks, protestors said they wanted the organisation to leave both Benghazi and Libya. Protestors stormed two of the Muslim Brotherhood’s main premises in the city, one of which was the local headquarters of the Justice and Construction Party (JCP) – the political arm of the Brotherhood. There have been reports that both were set alight.
Many of the protestors were in tears, mourning the loss of a political figure who, they say, consistently made a stand against militias and Islamists. He also frequently appeared on television to encourage the residents of Benghazi to stage protests in response to bombings and assassinations in the area.
“The death of Musmari was a big loss for Benghazi and the whole of Libya,” one resident told the Libya Herald, “he was a good, good man.”
“When somebody speaks the truth, it will cost him his life,” one banner read, in reference to Musmari’s open criticism of the Muslim Brotherhood. Another handwritten sign said “We want police, not gunmen.”
Other towns and cities across the country have reportedly demonstrated in solidarity with Benghazi in the early hours of this morning. Protestors filled Tripoli’s Martyrs’ Square and the long-standing Political Isolation Law tent in one corner of the square, manned largely by Muslim Brotherhood supporters and activists, has been taken down.
There have also been reports of protests in Zintan, Tobruk and Zawiya.
