While the EU Council will discuss today the strategic orientations of the EU’s migration policy, we publish an article on the lack of follow up on the left-to-die boat case, the structural causes of the deaths of migrants at sea and the fundamental policy reorientation necessary to put an end to them. We also make available a synthetic video animation concerning the left-to-die boat.

Researchers participating in the reconstruction of the 2011 “Left-to-die boat” case in which 63 migrants lost their life under NATO’s eyes, summarize three years of inconclusive demands for disclosure and justice. As the European Council addresses the EU’s long-term migration policy, they say deaths of migrants at sea will continue short of ending the EU’s policy of closure towards non-European migrants.

Los cuerpos corresponden supuestamente a personas que intentaron atravesar la frontera ilegalmente

Un grupo de científicos ha descubierto en un cementerio del sur de Texas fosas comunes con restos de inmigrantes no identificados que habrían fallecido al cruzar ilegalmente la frontera estadounidense, según informa este fin de semana la prensa local.

We, the inhabitants of both sides of Aegean Sea, express our anger and our shock about the thousands of deaths of refugees and migrants in their effort to cross Europe. They are a direct result of the Europe Fortress policy: The sealing of the borders and the lack of any other way for these people to seek protection.
Am 18.06.2014 haben marokkanische Paramilitärs auf spanischer Seite des EU-Zauns und anschliessend auf marokkanischer Seite die zaunkletternden Flüchtlinge furchtbar zusammengeschlagen, direkt im Angesicht der zusehenden Guardia Civil. Die Indizien belegen, dass 4 Flüchtlinge erschlagen und Unzählige schwer verletzt wurden – siehe Videovon Prodein:

El vídeo recoge imágenes captadas en la frontera de Melilla en el intento de pasar la valla fronteriza el 18-06 de 2014.
Hubieron varias decenas de heridos, tenemos indicios claros de 4 muertos. Las tropas marroquíes entraron en territorio español uniformadas y con armas. Golpearon con crueldad a los inmigrantes y se los llevaron a Marruecos donde muchos sufrieron torturas y la rapiña de las Fuerzas Auxiliares marroquíes.
Todo ante la atenta mirada de la Guardia Civil de España que no realizó ni un gesto ante tales hechos.

Oggi 2300 arrivi, 1100 in Sicilia
Mare nostrum così com’è non può continuare. E‘ l’unico punto di contatto tra il ministro dell’Interno, Angelino Alfano, e il segretario della Lega, Matteo Salvini. Perchè per il responsabile del Viminale se l’Ue non interviene lui proporrà lo stop all’operazione, ma le navi saranno ancora in mare, stavolta lontane dalle coste della Libia; mentre per il leader del Carroccio, invece, la marina miliare deve restare ferma nei porti del nostro Paese.

„[…] Sul gommone almeno 90 persone – Sul mezzo c’erano almeno 90 persone. Lo rende noto la Marina militare. Il gommone, secondo quanto si apprende, era stato avvistato mentre era in navigazione da un aereo portoghese inserito nel dispositivo Frontex. Quando però la nave della Guardia Costiera e i mercantili dirottati per prestare i soccorsi sono arrivati in zona, il mezzo era già affondato. Sul posto anche la fregata Scirocco e il pattugliatore Orione.
Alle operazioni ha partecipato anche la nave mercantile M/V Norland. Successivamente la nave Dattilo e Diciotti hanno completato il trasbordo sulla nave rifornitrice Etna dei migranti del gommone affondato e di un altro gommone con 104 persone e i 10 corpi senza vita. Continuano le ricerche di eventuali superstiti.
La rifornitrice Etna con circa 700 migranti (recuperati negli ultimi giorni) arriverà nel porto di Palermo domenica. […]“

Andare a prenderli. Portarli qui. Assisterli. Questa è la sola cosa da fare per non partecipare a un delitto collettivo. Ma non c’è condanna, né vergogna, per cui basta avere un po’ di fortuna per non dover assistere ogni giorno alla penosa conta dei morti: se le navi dell’operazione “Mare Nostrum” arrivano per tempo, bene, altrimenti gli annegati rimangono fantasmi e disturbano ancora meno.
