Sono complessivamente 730 i migranti tratti in salvo nella giornata di oggi, nel Canale di Sicilia, nel corso di 6 distinte operazioni di soccorso coordinate dalla Centrale Operativa della Guardia Costiera di Roma del Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti.

In particolare, Nave Diciotti CP941 della Guardia Costiera ha soccorso 5 gommoni, portando in salvo 627 migranti (528 uomini, 95 donne e 4 bambini), con l’intervento di Nave Aliseo della Marina Militare italiana, inserita nel dispositivo Mare Sicuro.

Drei Schiffe mit Boat-people sind vor West-Libyen untergegangen. Drei weitere Schiffe mit 500 Boat-people hat die libysche Küstenwache aufgebracht und die Flüchtlinge nach Libyen zurückgebracht. Wenn man davon ausgeht, dass sich auf den Schiffen aus West-Libyen meist 120-150 Boat-people befinden, hat ein Massensterben stattgefunden. Die libysche Küstenwache berichtet von 30 Toten und 4 tot Geborgenen.

30 African migrants dead, 500 rescued as EU-bound boats capsized off Libya shores

Around 30 illegal migrants have drowned when their EU-bound boats capsized off the western shores of Libya.

Libya’s Coast Guard, Al-Zawia office, said 3 boats loaded with some 500 illegal migrants were intercepted and rescued off Mellitah coast while 3 other boats sank, leaving around 30 migrants, including men and women, dead.

4 bodies were recovered while the others are still missing.

The 3 rescued boats were set on fire after taking the migrants to safety, the Coast Guard said.
