Die Balkanroute ist dicht, Tausende Flüchtlinge sitzen in Griechenland fest – sie werden auf andere, gefährlichere Wege ausweichen. Von dem Chaos profitieren vor allem die Schleuser.
Es sind Bilder, die einem das ganze Elend in der Flüchtlingskrise zeigen: Bei Idomeni, der griechischen Grenzstadt, erstürmen Hunderte die geschlossene Grenze, die sie seit Tagen an der Weiterreise nach Nordeuropa hindert. Um die Migranten zu stoppen, setzt die mazedonische Polizei Tränengas ein. Erst Stunden später beruhigt sich die Lage und der Grenzzaun ist wieder aufgestellt.
Doch wie lange kann das gut gehen? 6000 Flüchtlinge sitzen am Dienstag noch an derselben Stelle fest. Auf dem Festland sind nach Schätzungen der Polizei mehr als 30.000 Menschen auf dem Weg in das griechisch-mazedonisch Grenzgebiet. Und täglich kommen im Schnitt 2000 weitere über das Meer ins Land.

Es wird viel über sie gesprochen, aber auf der internationalen Konferenz von Geflüchteten und Migranten in Hamburg Ende Februar ergriffen sie selbst das Wort: Über 2.000 Flüchtlinge und Migranten sprachen auf dem selbst organisierten Treffen über ihre Sicht zu Themen, die sie direkt betreffen. Themen wie Asylgesetze, die Lage an den Grenzen, Selbstorganisation und Sexismus . Das Motto der Konferenz: „Der Kampf der Geflüchteten – wie weiter machen? Beendet den Krieg gegen die Migrant*innen.“

Despite the promising tone of messages sent last week from NATO leaders in Brussels, the bulk of negotiations in overcoming territorial sensitivities between Greece and Turkey on how their ships will help counter the criminal networks smuggling refugees into Europe across the Aegean Sea still lies ahead, with essential questions to be solved according to Turkish officials.
“The North Atlantic Council (NAC) in Permanent Session approved on Feb. 24 the modalities of the activity to be conducted by NATO naval units with a view to supporting national and international efforts to cut the lines of human trafficking and illegal migration within the Aegean Sea,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Feb. 25.

The flow of smuggled goods and people along Libya’s southern border illustrates the lawlessness and insecurity across that stretch of land.

Libya’s Saharan highway of smuggling stretches 600 kilometers (400 miles) from the Libya–Niger border to the town of Sabha, through the heart of Libya’s south. Known as Qaddafi’s Road and once heavily-policed under the former dictator’s border forces, since Libya’s 2011 uprising it has become a route where smugglers operate with impunity. Libyan security forces from the Tebu tribe—a semi-nomadic Saharan people living in Libya, Chad, and Niger—have tried to control the area since Muammar al-Qaddafi’s soldiers abandoned their posts in 2011, but, unpaid and poorly-trained, their scope is limited.

Greek authorities on Tuesday sent a group of refugees who illegally entered the country back to Turkey, as part of the readmission agreement signed between the European Union and Turkey.
According to Anadolu Agency (AA), the Greek border patrol sent 70 refugees, including Moroccans, Tunisians and Algerians to the İpsala border in northwestern Turkey. From there the refugees were reportedly transferred to the Edirne Provincial Immigration Directorate.
On Nov. 29, 2015 the European Union and Turkey agreed on a deal that would provide 3 billion euros to Ankara for Syrian refugees. If Ankara fulfills the requirements of the agreement, the EU Commission will propose visa liberalization for Turkish citizens in October 2016.

IDOMENI – Si dice che di fronte alla fame e alla disperazione non restino il tempo e lo spazio per il dibattito, e invece nella città purgatorio nata dal nulla i profughi riescono anche a „fare politica“. A interrogarsi cioè su cosa sia meglio fare per uscire dal labirinto senza uscita dentro al quale sono finiti. Un dibattito confuso e senza una vera rete; fatto sta che a Idomeni, in mezzo a una maggioranza silenziosa ed esausta, si confrontano due fazioni diverse: quella più radicale che ha organizzato lo sfondamento della barriere riuscito a metà di lunedì scorso e un’altra che vuole una protesta pacifica e secondo le „regole“. Nel tumulto generale nascono anche dei piccoli capopopolo. Banalmente sono quelli che riescono a guidare le manifestazioni che giorno dopo giorno i migranti fanno per chiedere di aprire le frontiere. An der griechisch-mazedonischen Grenze hat sich die Situation für die Flüchtlinge dramatisch verschärft. Hunderte Menschen versuchten heute, die Sperranlagen zu stürmen. Am Grenzübergang Idomeni überwand eine Gruppe von etwa 300 Flüchtlingen aus dem Irak und aus Syrien Polizeiabsperrungen. Die mazedonische Polizei setzte Tränengas ein.

Lange sollen sich nordafrikanische Länder wie Marokko gesträubt haben, abgelehnte Asylbewerber aus Deutschland wieder aufzunehmen. Das soll sich jetzt ändern, wenn sich der Bundesrat nicht querstellt.
