Marruecos sólo ha rescatado al 16,6% de inmigrantes que han cruzado el Estrecho este año

Las pateras en el Estrecho se cuentan ya por decenas prácticamente a diario y Salvamento Marítimo ha coordinado la búsqueda, hasta el pasado 23 de julio, de 23.021 personas que viajaban en 1.027 de estas embarcaciones. Del total, España ha rescatado a 19.043 inmigrantes, mientras que Marruecos ha hecho lo propio con 3.825 personas, el 16,6% del total. Hasta el momento 153 han fallecido o desaparecido.

Son los datos de 2018, un año a mitad de camino que ya ha superado con creces la intervención del Estado en materia de inmigración irregular en todo 2017, con unas 16.900 personas rescatadas y atendidas en los puertos andaluces por Cruz Roja y otras organizaciones no gubernamentales conveniadas con el Gobierno central. Von den über 700 Geflüchteten, die heute den EU-Zaun von Ceuta überwanden und auf spanischem Boden vom Roten Kreuz in Empfang genommen wurden, schob die spanische Guardia Civil auf illegale Weise schätzungsweise 100 der Geflüchteten durch Türe im EU-Zaun nach Marokko ab, siehe unten verlinktes Video der Tageszeitung „El Faro de Ceuta“. Die sozialistische Regierung hat bei ihrem Regierungsantritt vor wenigen Wochen versprochen, dass derartige „heiße Abschiebungen“ ab sofort nicht mehr praktiziert würden. Gerichte hatten diese Praxis der Kollektivabschiebungen an den EU-Zäunen der spanischen Enklaven Ceuta und Melilla als illegal gebrandmarkt.

Hunderte Migranten stürmen Ceuta

Hunderte Migranten haben den Grenzzaun der spanischen Nordafrika-Exklave Ceuta überwunden.

Wie spanische Medien unter Berufung auf die Polizei melden, verschafften sich mindestens 450 [über 700, siehe El Pais Artikel unten] Menschen unter anderem mit selbst gebauten Flammenwerfern Zugang. Es habe sich um den größten Ansturm der vergangenen Jahre gehandelt. In der Nähe von Ceuta an der Meerenge von Gibraltar und der weiter östlich gelegenen Exklave Melilla warten tausende Migranten auf eine Gelegenheit, in die EU zu gelangen.

En la provincia de Cádiz ya se han habilitado hasta tres pabellones de atención, mientras que Interior ultima un macrocentro temporal

En Cádiz hace ya semanas que los polideportivos sirven para mucho más que para practicar deporte. En las últimas horas ya son tres los pabellones habilitados en distintos puntos de la provincia para atender la llegada masiva de migrantes de las últimas horas. Al de Algeciras, habilitado el pasado 14 de julio para la atención primaria de 300 personas, se han sumado dos más en Cádiz y en Jerez que ya acumulan a casi 300 acogidos. Pero el despliegue incluso se antoja escaso, dadas las cifras de rescates en las últimas 24 horas: 972 personas.

Rescatados 131 inmigrantes de cinco pateras en el Estrecho

Estas personas han sido transportados a costa para recibir atención socio-sanitaria de Policía Nacional, Guardia Civil y Cruz Roja

Salvamento Marítimo ha rescatado hoy a 131 inmigrantes a bordo de cinco pateras en el estrecho de Gibraltar tras los dos más recientes efectuados a última hora de la mañana.

Fuentes del dispositivo han explicado que ha sido la «Salvamar Arcturus» la embarcación encargada de auxiliar a los inmigrantes en el caso de las dos primeras embarcaciones.

En la primera patera, localizada a las 07.45 horas 12 millas al suroeste de Tarifa (Cádiz), viajaban 45 inmigrantes de origen magrebí, entre ellos numerosos menores. Weiterlesen »

Morocco and the EU fail to reach an agreement as the 2014 fisheries treaty expires

The European Union and Morocco have not reached a settlement yet regarding the 2014 fisheries agreement. The latter expires on Saturday, 14th of July. On Saturday, 14th of July, the fisheries agreement concluded between Morocco and the European Union in July 2014, will expire, forcing 126 EU fishing vessels to leave the Kingdom’s territorial waters. The expiry of the treaty comes as the two parties have held several meetings to negotiate its renewal. The fourth round of negotiations between Rabat and the Brussels is still underway. Negotiations, however, have led the two parties to a settlement yet. Both sides aim to overcome the obstacles set by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU)’s ruling, which excludes the Western Sahara waters from the agreement. Weiterlesen »

Para cuando, al alba, el sol despunta por levante, Manolo el Millonario ya ha dado la orden de recoger los 5,4 kilómetros de palangre con los que tienta a la suerte en otro duro día de pesca en aguas de Marruecos. Es 29 de junio y hace ya casi cinco horas que él y sus tres marineros dejaron atrás el puerto de Conil de la Frontera. Apenas 12 horas antes, dos ministros del nuevo Gobierno de Pedro Sánchez han visitado Rabat para asegurar que mantienen las „excelentes“ relaciones con el país vecino. Pero El Millonario es perro viejo en la mar y sabe que el acuerdo que permitirá seguir faenando en aguas marroquíes a 70 pesqueros europeos como el suyo sigue atascado: „Lo veo bien negro. Puede que se llegue a firmar otro pacto, pero, de momento, nos quedamos sin faenar“.

No fewer than 60,000 migrants have perished in desperate attempts to escape from the difficulties in their countries and have better lives in other countries, mostly in Europe and America.

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said during a press briefing at the UN headquarters as the General Assembly set to agree on a new global compact on migration that migration is a positive global phenomenon.

Guterres highlighted the “immense potential” of harnessing the benefits of orderly migration and lower the risks facing millions on the move without documentation.

Americans in the Rif Rebellion

This paper examines the role of Americans in the Rif Rebellion as an observer and as operators. Captain Charles Willoughby of US Army Intelligence studied the rebellion in an official capacity and tried to analyze the conflict for lessons learned. The American mercenary aviators served in Morocco contrary to the wishes of the US State Department. In the summer of 1925, the French government brought in the American aviators because of a shortage of personnel in French military aviation and to hopefully improve Franco-American relations. While the American aviators performed well in Morocco, Americans at official and popular levels were opposed to American mercenaries in Morocco. A wide variety of forces from the improvement of the strategic situation in Morocco to bad American public reaction militated against the continued existence of the Escadrille Cherifienne. The French military learned little practical from this campaign and Franco-American relations were not severely harmed. One could argue that the variety of conflicting reactions of this campaign, illustrated a range of views on colonial warfare.

Le 8 juillet, deux camps de migrants irréguliers subsahariens à Fès et Casablanca ont été ravagés par des incendies à quelques heures d’intervalle. Aucune victime n’est à déplorer et l’origine de ces deux sinistres reste encore inconnue.
