Vielleicht hätte Spanien die Bootsflüchtlinge in der Folge übernommen. – „Lifeline“ hatte zuvor den Flüchtlingen eines anderen Boots den 5-Meter-Aufstieg zu einem Frachter ermöglicht, das sich zu dieser Rettung bereit erklärt hatte. – Die Anschuldigungen der italienischen Regierung über falsche oder fehlende holländische Registrationspapiere haben sich als desorientierende Fehlmeldungen erwiesen.
More than 200 migrants have drowned in the central Mediterranean in two days, bringing to more than 1,000 the number of migrants who died since January. Numbers of deaths similar to last year (2017) for the same period (nearly 2200 deaths), and lower than 2016 (nearly 3000 deaths), but if we could measure the cynicism of a large number of politicians, we could say that it is increasing.

En l’espace de deux jours, les 19 et 20 juin, plus de 200 migrants ont péri en mer sur cette principale route migratoire reliant l’Afrique à l’Union européenne.
Plus de 200 migrants se sont noyés en Méditerranée centrale en deux jours, ce qui porte à plus de 1.000 le nombre de ceux qui sont morts depuis janvier sur cette principale route migratoire reliant l’Afrique à l’UE, a indiqué jeudi l’ONU.

The UNHCR reports that in the last three days approximately 220 have died attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea. This spike in death toll caused the UN agency to call for more rescue capacity at sea, while European governments, with Italy in a leading role, do everything to avoid effective sea rescue. Sea-Watch warned on Wednesday of deadly days on the horizon due to a lack of rescue capacity; these drownings are a direct effect of the current crackdown on sea rescue. Sea-Watch therefore asks European communities, at national or local level, to help in pushing for a solution, while at a minimum allowing civil rescue ships to continue their life saving work without harassment by state authorities. The Dublin regulation allows states to exceptionally issue humanitarian visa, which can be adopted as an interim solution, while structural change is needed to allow a fair share of responsibility amongst EU member states.

BERLIN/TRIPOLIS (Eigener Bericht) – Die EU schlägt die Einrichtung von Sammellagern für Flüchtlinge in Nordafrika vor und will etwaige Asylgesuche dort exterritorial bearbeiten. Dies geht aus den Unterlagen für den EU-Gipfel Ende kommender Woche hervor. Demnach sollen künftig Flüchtlinge, die auf dem Mittelmeer aufgegriffen werden, nicht mehr nach Europa, sondern zurück nach Nordafrika gebracht werden. Werden ihre Asylanträge abgelehnt, werden sie von dort in ihre Herkunftsländer abgeschoben. Der frühere deutsche Außenminister Sigmar Gabriel bringt parallel einen Militäreinsatz in Libyen ins Gespräch. Tatsächlich hat die EU den Schritt zur Nutzung von Lagern in Nordafrika im Rahmen ihrer Flüchtlingsabwehr längst vollzogen. So unterstützt sie internationale Organisationen, die sich in Libyen um in Lagern inhaftierte Flüchtlinge kümmern, um mit ihrer Hilfe einige wenige Flüchtlinge nach Europa zu holen, die Mehrheit hingegen zur vorgeblich freiwilligen Rückkehr in ihre Herkunftsländer zu veranlassen. Die Maßnahmen werden zum Teil von Deutschland finanziert.

Migranti, Toninelli: “Sequestreremo nave ong Lifeline, agisce in acque libiche fuori dal diritto internazionale”
“È notizia di queste ore che la nave Ong Lifeline sta agendo in acque libiche fuori da ogni regola, fuori dal diritto internazionale. Hanno imbarcato circa 250 naufraghi senza avere i mezzi tecnici per poter garantire l’incolumità degli stessi naufraghi e dell’equipaggio”. Così in un post su Facebook e poi in una diretta video il ministro dei Trasporti e delle Infrastrutture Danilo Toninelli ha annunciato di aver chiesto alla Guardia Costiera italiana di avviare un’indagine.

Regensburg/Rom/Valletta (21.6.2018) – Dramatische Lage auf dem Rettungsschiff Seefuchs der Hilfsorganisation Sea-Eye: Nachdem Sea-Eye seit 2016 im Mittelmeer mehr als 14.000 Menschen aus Seenot rettete, hat gestern das niederländische Verkehrsministerium per Mail dem Rettungsschiff Seefuchs den seerechtlichen Schutzstatus entzogen. Die Seefuchs befand sich zu diesem Zeitpunkt in den internationalen Gewässern vor der libyschen Küste, um in Seenot geratene Flüchtlinge zu retten. Die Crew – ausschließlich Freiwillige – hatte aufgrund dieser neuen Situation keine andere Wahl, als die Rettungsmission abzubrechen und die Rückfahrt nach Valletta anzutreten. Weiterlesen »

The dutch flagged vessel LIFELINE, operated by the German NGO MISSION LIFELINE has rescued 224 people this morning, far in international waters and in line with all international regulations. As until now, none was assigned, MISSION LIFELINE urges for a Port of Safety to disembark those rescued. MISSION LIFELINE therefore expects the competent authorities to act according to International law and the IMO guidelines on the treatment of people rescued at sea.
With 226 on board, rescued under adherence of all applicable international legislation, LIFELINE is on its way north. As no Port of Safety is assigned yet and no IMO certified MRCC took responsibility, MISSION LIFELINE fears, that a similar situation to the Aquarius one week ago could be on the horizon. The day long journey the Aquarius had to take to reach Valencia and the decreasing medical condition of the people aboard during the transit have proven that this can not be an option. Therefore the NGO calls on the competent authorities to swiftly react according to their obligation to designate a place of safety.
Das NGO-Rettungsschiff „Lifeline“ hat heute morgen 300 bis 400 Boat-people im zentralen Mittelmeer gerettet und an Bord genommen. „Lifeline“ hatte die italienische Rettungsleitstelle um Hilfe der Küstenwache oder vorbeifahrender Frachtschiffe gebeten, aber sie wurden bei der umfangreichen Rettungsaktion allein gelassen. Salvini kündigt für heute Mittag eine anscheinend aggressive Stellungnahme an.
Heute morgen haben libysche Fischer vor der westlibyschen Küste zwei Bootsflüchtlinge gerettet, die sich an Holzreste ihres Boots geklammert hatten. Sie berichten von 100 toten Mitgereisten, überwiegend seien es Sudanes*innen gewesen.
