IRAQ: OUR NEGOTIATIONS WITH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES ON REFUGEES DID NOT REACH ANY RESULTS

The Ministry of Displacement and Migration [de Bagdad] confirmed on Friday that its negotiations’ results with the European Union on Iraqi refugees in which their asylum claims have been rejected didn’t arrive up until now.

“There is pressure from the European Union on Iraq to bring back refugees with rejected asylum claims and we have entered into negotiations with many countries as Netherlands , Sweden and Britain , but until now we did not reach to any results ,” The Minister of Displacement and Migration , Dindar Dosky told “Shafaq News “.

“The case is still pending and we have agreed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a memorandum of understanding in this regard to unify the discourse on the subject of Iraqi refugees and granting concessions for those who want to return voluntarily ,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Iraqis have been known at the time of the former regime, of high rates of migration and asylum to other countries , as some statistics at the time indicated that about four million refugees had been dispersed in various countries , some of them have returned to Iraq after 2003 , but the rates of immigration and asylum quickly escalated again throughout the past years due to the deteriorating security situation and lack of stability , jobs and services in Iraq.
