„Wegen Unruhen. Wintershall muss Ölförderung in Libyen einstellen

Der größte deutsche Öl- und Gasförderer Wintershall kann wegen der neuen Unruhen in Libyen vorerst kein Erdöl mehr in dem nordafrikanischen Land fördern. Aufgrund der andauernden Blockade der Öl-Exportanlagen an der Küste habe Wintershall die Förderung dort bereits vor einigen Wochen einstellen müssen, sagte Unternehmenssprecher Stefan Leunig laut einem Bericht der „Welt am Sonntag“. Aktuell sei es unklar, wann die Blockade aufgehoben werde und wie schnell die Produktion in der libyschen Wüste wieder aufgenommen werden könne, sagte Leunig.

Tripoli will get checkpoint at its 9 entry points

Speaking at last night’s late press conference, Defence Minister Abdullah Al-Thini revealed that Tripoli will get checkpoints at its 9 main entry points.

Al-Thini confirmed that no one would be able to get into Tripoli without having to pass through these points, which he revealed would be manned by the Military Police.

Blackouts in west as Amazigh gas blockade cuts power generation

Blackouts have hit Tripoli and western regions, thanks to Amazigh action against an oil and gas pipeline in the Nafousa mountains.

The fuel cut-off has meant that the key Ruwais power station has lost its gas turbine generators and is having to rely on its diesel sets to produce power.

A leading Amazigh figure warned that if the group’s political demands are not met, it will mark the beginning of “a new journey, a new odyssey far more difficult than the previous situation”.

Tebu protestors in Kufra and Rebyana threaten local power station

Angry Tebu tribesmen from Kufra and Rebyana have been protesting for the third successive day at what they say is their marginalisation and neglect, first under the Qaddafi regime and now in Free Libya. If government demands for improvements are not met with 48 hours, they are threatening to disrupt power production at al-Sareer.

Kufra is now a divided town since fighting earlier this year between the Tebu and the Zwia majority, left 150 Tebu dead and more than 400 injured. A reconciliation committee from the Jebel Nafusa restored an uneasy peace. However, concentrated in the neighbourhoods of Hay Al-Shuri and Ghaderfi, the Tebu now find themselves separated from most basic services, including hospitals and banks, which are now in Zwia areas of the town, 5,000 of whose 70,000 inhabitants are Tebu.

Libya Harald schreibt, dass 30 Tawerghas Asyl in Deutschland suchen. In dem Artikel wird darauf hingewiesen, dass man aber keinen Asylantrag in der deutschen Botschaft Tripolis stellen kann, sondern nur in Deutschland, und dass ein Gruppenantrag auf Asyl von Deutschland als Bedrohung angesehen würde. Tawerghas werden in Libyen verfolgt, mehrere Zehntausend leben dort in Lagern.

Tawergha claims of Germany migration seen as threat

Doubt is being cast on claims that 30 Tawerghans have flown to Germany with the intention of settling there.

The German embassy says that it has no information about any Tawerghan family having sought asylum in the country. Additionally, any applications for Schengen visas from an entire family would set alarm bells ringing, a European diplomat from the Schemgen area told the Libya Herald.

Mediapart veröffentlicht geheimen englischsprachigen Bericht der EU zur EU-Aufrüstung der libyschen Grenzen (unter dem Projektnahmen EUBAM), der mehr als 200 Seiten umfasst und vom 18.04.2013 datiert.

Der Bericht bietet einen umfassenden Überblick zur Lage-Einschätzung und zu bilateralen wie zu EU-Projekten, die mit der Grenzaufrüstung befasst sind.

Angesichts hunderter ertrunkener Boat-people, die in den letzten Monaten aus libyschen Lagern in Richtung Süditalien aufgebrochen waren, und angesichts des Starts von EUROSUR am 02.12.2013 hat der Bericht eine besondere Bedeutung. Er belegt detailliert, dass die EU für das Flüchtlingselend in Libyen und für das massenhafte Sterben im Kanal von Sizilien verantwortlich ist.
