Liebe Mitstreiter_innen,
wir möchten euch auf eine antirassistische Kampagne aufmerksam machen und euch einladen sie zu unterstützen: Fight Racism Now! Anlass ist ein doppelter Jahrestag Ende Mai: 20 Jahre Abschaffung des Grundrechts auf Asyl (26.5.), 20 Jahre Mordanschlag von Solingen (29.5.). Für den 25. Mai rufen wir zu einer bundesweiten Demonstration in Berlin auf.
Rassismus ist kein Randphänomen, sondern ein Problem der gesamten Gesellschaft, ihres Alltags und ihrer Institutionen. Die Abschaffung des Grundrechts auf Asyl war der Höhepunkt einer Welle politischer Hetze und Gewalt gegen Flüchtlinge und Migrant_innen. Sie hat die „Generation NSU“ hervorgebracht – militante Neonazis, die massenhafte Zustimmung erfahren hatten. Sie hat aber auch den rassistischen Normalzustand der Berliner Republik zementiert. Rassismus prägt das Leben von Millionen, die in Deutschland dauerhaft sozial und politisch diskriminiert werden. Dem deutsch-europäischen Grenz- und Abschieberegime, das seit 1993 aufgebaut wurde, sind mindestens 16.000 Flüchtende zum Opfer gefallen. Dagegen helfen auch keine antirassistischen Sonntagsreden. Rassismus entsteht in globalen Konkurrenz- und Ausbeutungsverhältnissen, und kann nur zusammen mit ihnen überwunden werden.
Fight Racism Now! wurde von Flüchtlingsgruppen und linken Initiativen angestoßen. Wir unterstützen die aktuellen Kämpfe von Geflüchteten in Berlin und in ganz Deutschland. Zur Zeit bereiten wir Aktionstage, Publikationen und Veranstaltungen vor. Nach der Demonstration Ende Mai werden wir den Bundestagswahlkampf kritisch begleiten. Rassistische Hetze gegen Roma, gegen Bürger_innen südeuropäischer Staaten, gegen die doppelte Staatsbürgerschaft und gegen Flüchtlingsunterkünfte in Wohngebieten – schon jetzt ist klar, dass wir viel zu tun haben werden.

Dear friends and allies,
we’d like to call your attention to an antiracist campaign, and invite you to join in and contribute – Fight Racism Now! The initiative marks the upcoming double anniversary: The 20th anniversary of the abolishment of the constitutional right of asylum, and the 20th anniversary of the racist Solingen arson attack, murdering five. For May 25th, we’re mobilizing for a central demonstration in Berlin.
Racism isn’t a marginal phenomenon. It is an integral part of mainstream society, it’s everyday life and its institutions. The abolishment of the constitutional right of asylum was the culmination point of a wave of racist agitation and violence against refugees and migrants. It has produced the „generation NSU“ – militant neonazis that had experienced broad popular approval. And it has cemented the racist normality of the Berlin Republic. Millions in Germany are systematically discriminated against, both socially and politically. The German and European border and deportation regime – initiated by the 1993 anti asylum laws – has killed more than 16.000 refugees over the past 20 years. Well-meaning appeals for „tolerance“ won’t change that. Because racism is reproduced under conditions of global competition and exploitation, and can only be overcome in that conjunction.
Fight Racism Now! was started by refugee groups and leftist initiatives. We support the current struggles of refugees in Berlin and all over Germany. At the moment, we’re preparing action days, publications, and debates. After the demo in May, the campaign will continue, keeping an eye on the federal elections campaign until September 22nd. Racist incitement against Romanies, against citizens of Southern European countries, against dual citizenship and against refugee housing in residential areas – we obviously have a lot of work ahead of us.
