Bis zum 14.10.2013 sind in diesem Jahr 35.085 Boat-people an der italienischen Küste angekommen. Fast alle sind AsylantragstellerInnen.
Im Einzelnen sind es 9.805 syrische, 8.443 eritreische, 3.140 somalische, 1.058 malische und 879 afghanische Flüchtlinge.
21.027 von ihnen sind über Libyen gekommen, 8.159 über Ägypten, 1.825 über die Türkei, 1.650 über Griechenland, 1.480 über Syrien.
Informations- und Diskussionsveranstaltung mit Efi Latsoudi, Lesbos, „PIKPA“ und „The village of all together“ berichtet über die aktuellen Fluchtbewegungen in der Ägäis, den Abschottungsmaßnahmen von Frontex und der griechischen Küstenwache sowie von den Solidaritätsaktivitäten auf der Insel.

Pushed Back – völkerrechtswidrige Zurückweisungen von Flüchtlingen an der griechisch-türkischen Land- und Seegrenze
An der griechisch-türkischen Landgrenze werden Flüchtlinge systematisch völkerrechtswidrig zurückgewiesen. PRO ASYL hat die systematischen Push Backs in dem Bericht „Pushed Back – systematic human rights violations against refugees in the aegean sea and the greek-turkish land border“ dokumentiert. Abgesehen von wenigen Ausnahmen fanden alle dokumentierten Push Backs im Operationsgebiet von Frontex statt. PRO ASYL stellt die Frage nach der Beteiligung von Frontex an den Menschenrechtsverletzungen und fordert: Frontex muss seine Operationen in Griechenland beenden. Jegliche europäische Finanzierung von Flüchtlingsabschreckung in Griechenland muss umfänglich evaluiert werden.

Kehrt um, zurück nach Afrika
Europas Grenzschützer sollen Flüchtlinge künftig auf dem Meer stoppen und zurückschieben können. Das sieht ein Reformvorschlag der EU-Kommission vor.
taz | Die EU-Grenzschutzagentur Frontex soll in Zukunft auf dem Meer aufgegriffene oder aus Seenot gerettete Flüchtlinge direkt in Länder außerhalb Europas zurückschieben dürfen – ohne dass sie vorher einen Asylantrag stellen können. Auch das Stoppen, Durchsuchen und Abdrängen von Booten mit Papierlosen auf Hoher See, also außerhalb der europäischen Hoheitsgewässer, soll den Grenzschützern künftig ausdrücklich erlaubt sein.

Frontex verletzt Menschenrechte
Die Grenzagentur Frontex fängt Flüchtlinge auf See ab und schickt sie zurück. Das ist menschenrechtswidrig und verstößt gegen die Genfer Konvention.
Während europäische Spitzenpolitiker wie EU-Kommissionspräsident Manuel Barroso öffentlich Bedauern über die Toten vor Lampedusa demonstrieren, ist die europäische Grenzschutzagentur Frontex nach wie vor daran beteiligt, Flüchtlinge daran zu hindern, europäischen Boden zu betreten.

Behind, in silhouette, are the lush mountains of Lesbos island – Greece’s third largest, a place of extraordinary natural beauty – but now one of Europe’s key immigration frontiers.
Since August 2012, when the Greek authorities increased controls on the land border with Turkey, the country’s islands have born the brunt of the inflow.
And Lesbos holds first spot. This year alone, 4,409 migrants attempted to enter the island from mainland Turkey – just six miles away.
Of those, 2,600 were arrested here, with the remainder detected in Turkish waters and sent back. Smugglers squeeze desperate people into overcrowded dinghies for a small fortune.

On le sait le récent naufrage dans lequel des centaines de migrants sont morts au large de Lampedusa était loin d’être le premier. La preuve dans ce documentaire qui raconte l’histoire d’un dramatique naufrage qui a coûté la vie à 283 clandestins au large de la Sicile la nuit de Noël en 1996. Un naufrage sur lequel silence et secret ont plané pendant des années avant que le bateau ne soit localisé et que la justice fasse son travail. Gadh Charbit retrace le fil d’une incroyable enquête. « Méditerranée : enquête sur un naufrage fantôme », un documentaire à découvrir sur La Une le mercredi 30 octobre à 22h00.

No to a new Pagani: The detention camp on Lesvos/Greece near Moria is the Pagani of the Troika!
On Thursday we finally received the answer from Athens: With a short “no” the headquarter denied the access for “Youth without Borders” a selforganisation of young refugees who had applied at the Police Department Lesvos for an official delegation to visit the newly built detention camp on Lesvos close to the village of Moria. Many of us had been in the past imprisoned as well in what was called by a Greek minister “Dantes Inferno”. This old detention centre Pagani had to be closed after we struggled all together from inside and outside shouting for weeks and months “Azadi! Freedom!” until the last refugees had been released in the end of 2009. The very short negative answer to our official application proves what we already knew before: on the old military base close to Moria they try to hide again an inhuman prison. The official plan to treat refugees on this island remains the same: to keep them behind barbed wire, isolated from the society. The only thing that has changed is the amount of money coming from the EU to finance it.
