Zwischen Flucht und Heimat
Said, Mustapha und Abdullah – sie sind alle schon einmal in Europa gewesen wie die meisten Jungs aus der Region um Sidi Ifni an der Atlantikküste im Südwesten Marokkos. Sie brechen mit kleinen Fischerbooten zu den Kanarischen Inseln im Atlantik auf mit Traumziel Festland Europa. Schätzungsweise 80 Prozent haben es schon auf diesem Weg versucht. Die Überfahrt zu den Kanaren dauert bis zu 48 Stunden. Die meisten werden genauso schnell wieder in ihren Heimatort zurückgeschickt. Der Grund für die lebensgefährliche Reise ist der Wunsch nach einem besseren Leben. Die Reportage von Christoph Heymann erzählt die Geschichte von drei jungen Männern, die trotz gescheiterten Versuchen weiterhin Hoffnung auf eine Zukunft in Europa haben. Oder sich abfinden und in der Heimat nach neuen Wegen suchen. Warum wollten sie weg? Wo liegen die Probleme im Land? Was sind ihre Ziele? Wie stellen sie sich ihr Leben in Europa vor? Welche Erfahrung haben sie auf dem Kontinent gemacht? Wie sieht eine Zukunft in Marokko aus?

Nine Days on the Roof
On the 24th of June, 2014 the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg made an operation called „voluntary moving“. The idea was to empty the former Gerhart-Hauptmann school, occupied by refugees since December 2012. The procedure involved over 1000 police officers and blocked the complete neighbourhood. From the 300 of the school’s inhabitants, around 40 people didn’t accept to leave. Instead they stayed inside and resisted for 9 days on the roof of the building.
The italian TV and the newspaper Corriere della Sera produced a documentary film serie about the 11-10-2013, specially about the military vessel Libra and the commandant Catia Pellegrino. You remember that the Libra was 40 km near by the ship during the afternoon and did nothing. They are co-responsable for the dead of more than 200 boat-people in that evening, and now they are presented as heroes!
