Sofia – Die bulgarischen Flüchtlingsjäger sehen auf den ersten Blick aus wie die russischen „grünen Männchen“, die vor zwei Jahren die Krim überfielen. Yuri (32), Iwan (28) und Dano (34) tragen Tarnanzüge, Masken und Kampfstiefel. Sie laufen „Streife“ im Strandscha-Gebirge an der bulgarisch-türkischen Grenze.

Large-scale police operation against illegal migration is taking place in downtown Sofia and several other places across Bulgaria on Friday morning.
There is heightened police presence in the area of the Maria Luisa boulevard and Lavov most (Lions‘ bridge) in the centre of the Bulgarian capital, which is a popular gathering place for migrants.

Seit Jahresbeginn nahmen die ungarischen Behörden fast 11.000 Menschen wegen des Versuchs in Gewahrsam, den Stacheldraht an den Grenzen zu Serbien und Kroatien zu überwinden. Die meisten von ihnen setzten nach Angaben der Regierung und von Hilfsorganisationen später ihre Reise nach Österreich, Deutschland und andere Ziele in Europa fort.

A court has placed Petar Nizamov, whose video of ‘citizen’s arrest’ of three migrants caused an international outcry, under house arrest as his trial continues.

A regional court in the town of Malko Tarnovo on Friday released Petar Nizamov, the vigilante migrant hunter who published a video of three Afghan migrants he had „captured“ on April 10, to home arrest.
The court said there were no sufficient grounds to keep the 30-year-old in detention pending the rest of his trial. If proven guilty, he could face up to six years in prison. The next court session will be on April 21 in Burgas, the judges announced.

Since the private TV station bTV reported about people who are patroling with All-terrain vehicles through the border region of Bulgaria and calling their leader a national hero, more groups popped up in public which claim for arresting the migrants who crossed to Turkish-Bulgarian border. Although, the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee called for prosecution of the case. The prime minister, Boyko Borissov, thanked in a statement these patrols:
I personally talked with them [the voluntary patrols] and thank them. I send the director of the Border Police to meet and coordinate with them.

Government to search for further vigilantes targeting refugees after arrest of wrestler Dinko Valev, following claims it was turning a blind eye to assaults
Bulgaria has announced investigations into several “migrant hunters” after being accused of turning a blind eye to vigilantes targeting refugees travelling to Europe from Turkey.
The interior ministry said on Tuesday that Dinko Valev, a semi-professional wrestler who boasted earlier this year of detaining migrants, had been summoned for questioning. In separate developments on the same day, the ministry said it had detained a vigilante responsible for a video released this week that showed armed civilians tying up refugees, and begun searching for others.

Die bulgarische Marine und der Grenzschutz haben im Schwarzen Meer Einsätze gegen Flüchtlinge aus der Türkei auf eine mögliche Ausweichroute durch Bulgarien geübt. «Wir bereiten uns für den Fall einer Flüchtlingswelle vor, da die Balkanroute geschlossen ist», sagte Regierungschef Boiko Borissow am Sonntag nach einem Bericht der Nachrichtenagentur Focus. Die Balkanroute für Flüchtlinge nach Westeuropa ist seit einem Monat geschlossen.

Nell’Europa dei fili spinati e dei controlli alla frontiera del Brennero, c’è spazio per scendere ancora più in basso. Precisamente al confine tra la Bulgaria e la Turchia, dove la recinzione installata dal governo di Sofia – per impedire l’ingresso dei migranti – evidentemente a qualcuno non basta. Da qualche mese bande di «cacciatori di migranti» (così si autodefiniscono) sono entrati in azione organizzando delle vere e proprie ronde. Si muovono in gruppi di dieci-quindici persone, girano per i boschi a bordo di quad e jeep. Vanno a caccia di profughi. Ufficialmente non sono armati: «Ci bastano le mani», dicono questi energumeni che hanno nel wrestler semi-professionista Dinko Valev il loro leader.

At the moment, there are three camps of a closed type existing in Bulgaria. The buildings, which are administered from the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), provide 1,040 places: The Detention Center in Busmantsi has 400, the Detention Center in Lyubimets (since recently) 400 and the Detention Center in Elhovo has 240 places. In these accommodation facilities unaccompanied minors are being held illegally, which was reported by the Ombudsman some days ago. A recent statement, done by the Center for Legal Aid – Voice in Bulgaria (CLA), confirmed the report.
[CLA] met a number of detained unaccompanied minors, whom the centre’s administration had listed as accompanied by a seemingly randomly chosen person who happened to be a part of the same group traveling together and smuggled into the country. […]
