African Refugees Are Having a Hard Time Living in a Dutch Prison

By Giles Clarke

A few weeks ago, I went to Amsterdam to visit a community of African refugees who live in a former prison called the Vluchthaven. The group calls themselves „We Are Here“ and are considered illegal immigrants by the Dutch government. They’ve been very visible over the last two years for protesting the indifference that many politicians in Holland have shown towards immigrants and people seeking asylum from war-torn countries. Brutaler Polizeieinsatz in Luxemburg

While the Ministers of Interior Affairs of every EU member state were sitting inside behind closed doors speaking about the Mediterranean Task Force, the new Executive Director of Frontex as well as better ways to administrate the Schengen Area.

„The International Border Security Forum is an objective institution that has the potential to provide council and inspire the change. The Mediterranean workshop, in the framework of the forum, will gather in one room decision makers as well as military and security experts for a
creative and open discussion where the main regional border security threats will be identified and assessed. The adequate precaution measures and combat tactics, both in terms of armament and technology will also be proposed.“

In the same place, where the Schengen agreement was signed 1985 and 1990  and the abolishing of internal borders for EU-Citizens is celebrated with monuments and in a museum, the march of refugees and sans papieres presented yesterday the reality and consequences of the treaty and its socalled „compensatory measures“: suffering, death and deportations through a tight visa-regime, the Schengen Information system, the fenced and deathly external borders including Frontex ( which are presented with propaganda films in the museum).

Find first pictures attached from the boats-bordercrossing, from the reality decoration of the monuments and from the protest including a roof ocupation at the Schengen museum…, about 200 persons participated.
Great actions from the march for freedom!

Join the march, next days in Luxembourg, and come to Brussels in the week between 20th and 28th of June…

Saarlouis the 29th of May

Call of the Protest March for Freedom for Action in Schengen (LUX) on Sunday 1st of June

On the 13th day of the Protest March we will reach the city Schengen through our third border crossing from Germany to Luxembourg.

After the press conference at 11 am we will cross the bridge from Perl to Schengen to start our action in this symbolic city for racist asylum and migration policies.

Schengen is the city in which the Schengen Treaty was signed. In Schengen the EU is celebrating freedom of movement and „Europe without borders“ as well as FRONTEX. It is celebrating the privileges of the European citizens while criminalizing migration.

Therefore the Schengen Treaty on the other hand means the establishment of Fortress Europe, migrant defence and deaths at the borders of Europe and its seas as well the violation of human rights.

We call all refugees and solidarious groups to join us in Perl to cross the border together to reach Schengen. Through creative actions we want to celebrate there the freedom of movement for EVERYONE and at the same time we want to scandalize the killing militarization of Schengen’s outer borders. We want to abolish Frontex, the Dublin System and all anti-migration policies of Europe.

Also on the 5th and 6th of June the Council of the European Union will come together in Luxembourg Ville (Place de l’Europe 4) to discuss the Task Force for the Mediterranean, the Schengen System as well as the new executive director of FRONTEX. Therefore join also our action day on the 5th of June in Luxembourg Ville!!

Let’s come there together and smash borders and racism!!
